Is the drum brake on the Bajaj Discover 110 really a deal breaker?
Some riders consider drum brakes on both wheels outdated technology, but the Discover 110 has them. Therefore, along with discussions on safety and braking performance, whether in normal or emergency situations, there have been debates about them. Drum brakes are good enough for a 110cc commuter, argue some, while others contend that disc brakes should be standard. Often the discussion revolves around who the bike is targeting, what kind of conditions the bike is likely to be ridden in, and how much cost the rider is willing to sacrifice in exchange for safety features. A few riders relate their experiences with drum brakes in different situations, and some compare the Discover's braking to that of its competitors in the segment. The debate also comes in to its effect on the drum brake setup with CBS (Combined Braking System) and disc brakes with ABS.
No, drum brakes are just fine for city riding. I've had no issues using them for years.
It's definitely a concern. Once I had a close call and wished for better stopping power.
You can't expect disc brakes for the price. After all, it’s just a budget commuter.
I don't think it's a missed opportunity. Safety should even be a priority with entry level bikes.
The drum brakes are compensated by the CBS. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty good.
On my old bike I had drum and upgraded to disc and the difference was night and day.
It depends on how you ride. Drum brakes are actually better if you are constantly stuck in heavy traffic.
