Yamaha India has recently teased the Yamaha XSR 155 in their latest ‘Call of the Blue’ promotional video, hinting at its potential launch in India in the coming months. The bike features a neo-retro roadster design, a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, and a 6-speed gearbox. I believe this bike could be a strong contender in the Indian market, especially with its unique design and powerful engine.
The Yamaha XSR 155 is expected to be priced between Rs 1.36 lakh and Rs 1.40 lakh in India, positioning it above the Yamaha MT-15. The bike boasts a modern-classic design, LED head and tail lamps, and a Delta box frame. I think the pricing is competitive, and it could attract buyers looking for a stylish and powerful bike.
Yamahas decision to launch the XSR 155 in India is seen as a strategic move to expand their portfolio, especially in the retro-modern motorcycle segment. The bike shares its engine and chassis components with the Yamaha MT-15 and R15, making homologation easier. I believe this move could help Yamaha tap into the growing demand for modern retro designs in India.
Yamaha India has not yet confirmed the launch date of the XSR 155, but industry speculation suggests it could happen by the end of 2024. The bikes engine, which includes Yamahas VVA system, is expected to provide a strong performance. I believe that if priced correctly, this bike could be a hit in the Indian market.
The Yamaha XSR 155 is anticipated to rival other neo-retro roadsters like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and the TVS Ronin in the Indian market. With its round LED headlight, flat single-piece seat, and chunky exhaust, the bike offers a unique aesthetic. I think its retro look and modern features will make it an attractive option for many buyers.
