TVS NTorq Thor Edition Review

22 Aug, 2022 04:44 PM

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

The TVS Ntorq scooter was introduced in 2018 and quickly gained popularity among Indian consumers. Its remarkable features and smart technology helped it achieve significant popularity in the Indian market, and the company later launched the Thor Edition of the TVS NTorq scooter in 2021.

Before the introduction of the Thor edition, the other Marvel Comics superheroes like Iron Man, Black Panther, and Captain America editions were already offered in the Indian market. This special edition Ntorq 125 variation is available in India as a result of TVS's collaboration with Disney India's consumer products firm.

The Thor edition is finished in a Lightning Gray colour scheme that depicts Marvel superhero Thor's unearthly power. Just like the other super squad editions, the Thor Edition TVS Ntorq also gets a host of enticing elements and styling. The addition of the "Ride The Lightning" tagline, MJOLNIR, and 62, representing the launching year 1962 of Thor the Super Hero, makes the scooter look astonishing.

In terms of functionality, the TVS NTorq Thor Edition scooter supports the TVS SmartXonnect App, which comes with a personalised UI based on the selected Marvel character. Bluetooth connectivity, Caller ID, last parked position assistance, navigation assistance, and more capabilities are included in this application.

Built on a high-resiliency under-bone tubular frame, the scooter gets a sharp and sleeker body. This scooter rides on 100/80-12 diamond-cut alloy wheels. Aside from that, there is a 22-litre under-seat storage compartment for carrying a reasonable amount of goods. Its Bluetooth-connected speedometer boasts a gaming console-inspired display.

Powering the TVS NTorq Thor Edition is a 124.8cc (3V), single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SI, air-cooled engine that uses fuel-injection technology and churns out 9.25 HP at 7000 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. In terms of performance, the 125cc scooter has a 0-60 kmph acceleration time of roughly 9 seconds. The scooter can reach a top speed of 95 kmph.

As far as mileage is concerned, in the real world, the TVS Ntorq 125 offers a fuel efficiency of 40-42 kmpl. The TVS Ntorq competes in the Indian two-wheeler market with the Suzuki Access 125, Vespa LX 125, Aprilia SR 125, Honda Activa 125, Hero Destini 125, and Yamaha Ray ZR 125.

TVS Ntorq125 review

Indian scooter market is maturing at last. Aprilia SR150 is already there and Honda PCX and Yamaha NMax are coming. And Suzuki Burgman Street 125 is also there. Hats off to the "desi" company that has launched Ntorq 125. Totally different in attitude from the existing competitors, it's for pure, bike-like performance with the advantage of carrying your laptop bag between your feet. Ride at a steady 90 km/h on a highway, overtake anything on a city road, take a turn or aggressively cross a pothole, the scooter will do whatever you want it to do. The only competition is SR 150, and when I compare the sibling of Vespa with that of Victor, that tells volumes about the quality of the product. Performance-wise, actually this one is the sibling of Apache RTR 160 4V, not of Victor. And I must mention that ride quality is far better on Ntorq than on SR 150. If you at 51 years like me want something very comfortable yet peppy, go for Burgman Street 125 (very close is Suzuki's Access 125 with very plain looks). But if you add an Aprilia SR150 to a Burgman Street 125 and divide the result by 2, what you will get is a Ntorq 125 for your 19 years old offspring. Well, I own a Ntorq apart from some others. Yes, I own it at a ripe 51 years.

Best Features: I don't think Bluetooth connected digital console is the best feature. Best thing is very peppy engine, effective suspension, 12 inch wheels, f & r. Wider tubeless tyres. Under seat light+USB port.

Pros: Built for unadulterated performance. Challenge any 125/150 cc bike on the city road. Commendable performance on bad roads. Only Aprilia scooters, particularly SR 150, is comparable and vice versa.

Cons: Mileage not bad if you consider performance. But relatively lower mileage (45kmpl) is a trade off for performance. Once again compare SR 150 in this matter.

Best 125cc Scooter

I bought metallic blue colour, which contains many dust particle in it brand new plastic paint body. It seems they haven't used the paint booth. Headlight illumination is good but, AC electrical disrupts the benefits of it. Mileage is a concern for this scooter and it may get improved after servicing. Performance, stability and handling is very good but, I'm missing low end punch. Bluetooth connectivity is a bonus for this machine.

Best Features: Full Digital Cluster Meter, Engine Kill Switch, DRL, Parking Brake

Pros: Performance, Stability, Pick-up, Headlight illumination

Cons: Mileage, Paint Quality
