TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Dual Channel ABS Review
Overview
TVS Motor Company has once again raised the bar in the 160cc motorcycle category with the arrival of the 2025 Apache RTR 160 2V Dual Channel ABS. This latest model not only meets stringent OBD2B emission standards but also incorporates advanced safety features, setting a new benchmark for value and innovation. Priced at ₹1.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Apache RTR 160 2V continues TVS’s tradition of blending performance with practicality.
Engine and Performance: Responsive and Efficient
At the core of the new Apache RTR 160 2V is a reliable 159.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. Delivering 16.04 PS of power at 8,750 rpm and 13.85 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, this engine is paired with a smooth 5-speed transmission. Updated to comply with OBD2B emissions regulations, the powertrain ensures cleaner performance without sacrificing the dynamic ride quality Apache enthusiasts expect. The result is a motorcycle that feels lively and nimble, whether navigating city streets or enjoying a spirited ride.
Dual Channel ABS: Enhanced Safety for All Riders
A major highlight of the 2025 model is the introduction of dual-channel ABS, a feature rarely seen in this segment. Earlier versions offered only single-channel ABS, focusing on the front wheel. The new system, however, monitors both wheels, dramatically reducing the risk of skidding or wheel lock-up during sudden braking. This upgrade provides riders with greater confidence and control, especially on unpredictable roads, making the Apache RTR 160 2V one of the safest options in its class.
Ride Modes: Adaptable Performance for Every Condition
TVS has equipped the latest Apache RTR 160 2V with three customizable ride modes: Sport, Urban, and Rain. Each mode adjusts throttle response and ABS settings to suit different riding environments. Sport mode maximizes power for exhilarating rides, Urban mode balances efficiency and responsiveness for city commutes, and Rain mode enhances safety on wet or slippery surfaces. This adaptability ensures a tailored riding experience regardless of conditions.
SmartXonnect: Next-Level Connectivity
The new Apache RTR 160 2V features the SmartXonnect system, which brings advanced connectivity to the rider’s fingertips. By connecting via Bluetooth to a smartphone, riders can access turn-by-turn navigation, receive call and SMS alerts, and use voice assist functions. The digital LCD console displays ride statistics, crash alerts, and even suggests nearby fuel stations when fuel is low. These smart features make every journey more convenient, safe, and enjoyable.
Design and Aesthetics: Bold and Modern
The 2025 Apache RTR 160 2V boasts a refreshed, sporty look with bold new color options such as Matte Black and Pearl White. The addition of red alloy wheels adds a touch of racing flair, while the overall design remains sharp and aggressive—true to the Apache brand’s racing heritage. With a kerb weight of just 137 kg, the bike is both lightweight and agile, making it easy to handle in a variety of riding conditions.
Comfort and Everyday Usability
Built on a robust double cradle frame, the Apache RTR 160 2V is designed for comfort as well as performance. Telescopic front forks and gas-charged rear shocks provide a smooth ride over uneven roads, while the 12-liter fuel tank ensures a practical range for daily commutes or longer trips. The single-piece seat and ergonomically placed footpegs offer comfort for both rider and pillion, making the bike suitable for everyday use.
Compliance and Future-Readiness
With India’s upcoming mandate for ABS on all new two-wheelers from January 2026, TVS is ahead of the curve by offering dual-channel ABS now. The OBD2B certification ensures the Apache RTR 160 2V meets the latest environmental regulations, making it a future-proof choice for riders who value both safety and sustainability.
Pricing and Value Proposition
The dual-channel ABS variant is priced at ₹1.34 lakh, just ₹4,000 more than the previous top model, offering outstanding value for the added safety and technology. The Apache RTR 160 2V lineup starts at ₹1.21 lakh, making it accessible to a wide range of riders seeking a feature-rich, high-performance motorcycle.
Conclusion: Setting New Standards in the Segment
The 2025 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Dual Channel ABS represents a significant leap forward for the 160cc motorcycle segment. With its powerful and efficient engine, advanced safety features, customizable ride modes, and smart connectivity, it stands out as a leader in its class. Whether you’re a daily commuter, a tech-savvy rider, or a performance enthusiast, the new Apache RTR 160 2V is engineered to deliver an exhilarating and secure riding experience.

TVS Apache RTR 180 is a beast
It has the required grunt in its engine. The RTR name is perfect for the bike. The best street fighter ever.
Best Features: Design, perfect for city
Pros: Exhaust sound, throttle response
Cons: Top speed is lower than others
Stylish and Good Performer
Style: It's a beautifully crafted beast, when you just sit on the bike you feel like you are in a Race. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: It's loaded with 160CC powerful RTR engine that you can really feel it. And fuel economy is good! I have just done with 2nd service (today) and so far I have got 60kmpl riding around 55km/hr and had never crossed 60km/hr.. but today I was really exited and happy to ride my beast at its best, I really enjoyed the pickup, speed, thrill.... coming to gearbox it lags (some times), it is smooth while the up shifts and stuck while down shifts and have to slow down the bike for down shifts but this is a common problem in all bike range. Ride Quality & Handling: Ride quality and Handling is extremely good.. but rear tyre slips when you brake, you might have to use good quality tyres. Areas of improvement: Riding comfort as riders get back ache, tyres, gearbox
Best Features: RTR, dashboard has many options, etc
Pros: Good performance, stylish, fuel economy, ride quality
Cons: Comfort, gearbox
