About
The Suzuki SlingShot 125 is a 124cc, single-cylinder commuter motorcycle designed for the Indian market. It is powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC engine that produces 8.5 HP at 7500 rpm and 10 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. The engine is mated to a smooth 5-speed gearbox, which is praised for its positive and smooth gear shifts. The bike features a telescopic front suspension and a swing-arm rear suspension, providing a comfortable ride even on rough roads. With a ground clearance of 160 mm and a kerb weight of 129 kg, it handles well in city traffic. The SlingShot also boasts stylish features like split-end 5-spoke alloy wheels and a sharp headlight design. However, it lacks disc brakes, relying on drum brakes at both the front and rear. Despite this, its overall package of comfort, fuel efficiency, and build quality makes it a viable option for those seeking a reliable commuter bike.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Suzuki SlingShot 125 is a commendable entry in the 125cc commuter segment, particularly for its comfort, ride quality, and fuel efficiency. While it may not impress with its power output, the bike excels in city riding conditions, thanks to its smooth 5-speed gearbox and ample torque in the low to mid-range RPM. The upright sitting position and comfortable seat make it ideal for daily commutes. However, the lack of disc brakes is a significant drawback, and the braking performance is somewhat disappointing. Despite this, the SlingShots build quality, minimal vibrations, and good fuel economy make it a competent contender in its class. For those prioritizing comfort and practicality over raw power, the Suzuki SlingShot is a solid choice.
Price
The Suzuki SlingShot 125, specifically the Drum variant, was priced competitively in the Indian market before its discontinuation. The ex-showroom price for the 2017 Suzuki SlingShot Plus Drum Self was around Rs 53,635 in Delhi. When considering the on-road price, which includes additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other taxes, the total would have been slightly higher, typically around Rs 60,000 to Rs 65,000 depending on the state and local taxes. While the bike is no longer available for purchase new, its pricing was competitive with other 125cc commuters like the Honda CB Shine and Hero Glamour.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 09:09 PM
The Suzuki SlingShot 125 offers impressive fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. During test runs, the bike delivered a mileage of around 50-60 kmpl in city traffic and up to 65 kmpl on highways. This makes it an economical choice for daily commuting, helping to keep running costs low.

Sukuki Slingshot: Start problem ...
on 14-Jan-2013 i purchased Suzuki Slingshot now today i have starting problem with bike Unable to start by Self,Kick or chock or as directed by local suzuki service center ..Alas!! i think i have done a big mistake ...because i was using Honda Shine and did not face such type of issue in 6 year..
slingshot is a very good bike, with decent performance good look, nominal price with good build quality. the bike is underpowered. but for those of u complaining about mileage. there certain restriction on the initial 2000 km ride, for example riding below 45 and without pillion if possible. this things are there for a reason. there plenty of guys on internet, who are using these guidelines and getting the best out if there bike and an average mileage of 60 kmpl.
Suzuki Sling Shot is not at all good. I have purchased it 6 months back and had a very bad experience with it. It frequently stops and there are lot of other problems as well.
suzuki sling shot is a best 125 cc bike it gives a stedy milege of 57 on city roads its top speed is 95 and it has got gr8 balance its shockers are world class it is a low maintanence bike with maximum features and good looks i luv my bike
I am using Slingshot for abt 8 months ,,, Firsst the advantages are : 1 ) Very Smooth Riding with no vibration even at high speeds (70-80) & the bike can proceed up to 100km/hr 2)good seating arrangement & handlebar comfort for long drives which eliminates backpain completely 3)Ground Clearance too good incase of rainy times in city 4) Less Maintenance & body parts are of good Quality. Disadvantages : 1) Eventhough its a good engine it lacks pulling power mainly due to its self weight 2) Poor Braking incase of solo ride 3) Shock Absorber is very bad & its tiresome to drive in bad roads 4) Mileage nearing only 45km/litre in CIty but suprisingly 62km/hr in outside city. Overall i can comment its good to ride, But Suzuki have to reconsideer the Kerb Weight & Brakes & Shock Absorber to become a best 125cc Commutater,, Good Luck...
Doesn't have power enough 2 satisfy a young biker's hunger
Suzuki Slingshot has got lots of features at nominal price.
SUZUKI SLINGSHOT IS BAD LOOKING.. IT IS NOT GOOD..........
@Antony George
I agree.
@karthik indrakumar
In which angle Yamaha R15 is Affordable to indian Youth?
Looks cool.......................
Guys, do not make comments until you have really rode it. Please provide the comments which will really help the customers to make decision about buying it.
I got one.....very good bike
@chetan
I think chetan is a fool for the simple reason that he doesnt understand the fact tha yamaha had its R15 bike released which is more affordable to indian youth who dream hayabusa (as rightly said by ricky) and he is a 'stupid' for calling ricky and indian youth as fools.
Front appearance -not appealing. Overall a good bike.......
Hello Chetan! Have a look at the headlight of slingshot. You cant deny it looks really bad. Suzuki might have a lot of technology and stylish bikes abroad, but they are not bringing any stylish commuter bikes in India.
Except gs150r, all suzuki products in India have boring looks. Compare slingshot to Yamaha SS125, TVS Flame, Bajaj Pulsar 135LS, and even suzuki Zeus, clearly slingshot does not look good. The headlight spoilt it. I agree suzuki has good robust engines in zeus and gs150r, but they need to reduce the weight in all their bikes to increase power-to-weight ratio.
@Ricky
I think Indian youth like you is more stupid n drunken who is dreaming 150cc hayabusa in India for road racing.
Not looking good & for value of money also
I think the designers were drunk when they were designing this piece of s***
Suzuki still don't know what Indian youth wants, Probably they should make 150 cc Hayabusa or GSXR like Yamaha did with R15.
Please dont make wrong image of Suzuki bikes. I had Suzuki max 100 2 stroke which was extremely Robust, Powerful, Fuel Efficient in all 2 strokers. I rode it very roughly. I Tuned its Carburetor For more Power ant it Came up to all my expectation. GS150R is now big hit in 150cc. Please Take test drive it and then make any statement on it.
Is that a headlight or a piece of junk? Suzuki hire me please. I will design a good-looking headlight free of cost for you. And 127 kg weight. Does suzuki know anything about power-to-weight ratio? Even GS150R is too heavy.
Dis bike is havin da same engine of heat and zeus...
Again a third class and maha bakwaas bike from suzuki, koi muje free me bhi ye bike dega to bhi main nahi lena chahoonga.
Suzuki has once again prooved that it is top manufacturer of third class , bakwaas, really disgusting bikes. it has not learnt from the super flop shows of all it previous bikes and it has launches slingshot so that all the customers would again abuse the company.
I hope this bike has good power-to-weight ratio. The GS150R is an excellent commuter bike with good features for price, but Suzuki made GS150R a bit too heavy, which is the main negative aspect of the bike. If GS150R was just 5 kg lighter, it would be the best 150cc to buy. We need lean and mean bikes, not bikes which are very heavy. They should eliminate redudant helmet lock, which nobody uses. We would rather prefer small underseat storage.
Still Suzuki can not manage to extract power more then 10 bhp.
It is a very good bike from Suzuki.
I would say sack your entire statics department as well as your R&D department gets some people who can show some hike in sales figure as well as some bikes likes shogun, shaolin or fiero
Straight out of dumpster. looks like crap sure performs like one too , where on earth are the people who designed shogun, shaolin and fiero ? yamaha woke up finally and these guys are crazy . come on suzuki you can do much better than this , indian people are not so bad plus we are much better . wake up
