Suzuki V-Strom SX vs TVS Apache RTX 300 in India: which touring bike fits your priorities?

by @tapnottrap-802 months ago23 views4 answers

The Suzuki V-Strom SX and TVS Apache RTX 300 sit close in starting price but make different cases for riders planning regular highway rides as well as everyday use. The V-Strom SX is listed from ₹2.01 lakh ex-showroom, while the RTX 300 is listed from ₹1.99 lakh; local on-road quotes and availability can differ.

What separates them on paper?

  • Suzuki V-Strom SX: 249cc, 26.5 PS; an established option for riders who value a simpler, familiar touring package.
  • TVS Apache RTX 300: 299.1cc, 36 PS; a newer alternative with more outright power on the comparison listing.

For an India-based buyer, the practical choice may come down to cruising comfort, luggage and pillion needs, service reach, running costs, delivery confidence and the on-road price in the city—not just the spec sheet.

Which would you shortlist for mixed commuting and touring, and what matters more in your budget: power, long-distance comfort, service support, or purchase value?

Treat expensive touring accessories as a separate decision. A taller screen, luggage set or cosmetic add-on has value only if it solves a regular use case. Compare fuel, tyre, insurance and service estimates before spending the saved amount on extras. Everyday comfort and a manageable running budget usually matter longer than novelty.

If the bike will cover weekend rides and longer trips, make a short support checklist: delivery timeline, nearby authorised service, luggage options, tyre availability and roadside-assistance terms. Then compare the seating position with a pillion and loaded bags. The better choice is the one that fits those stops and support needs, not just the launch-spec advantage.

Before choosing, ask what the complete invoice will be after registration, insurance, accessories and finance. The listed ex-showroom gap is small, yet local on-road pricing can change the result. Keep money aside for a helmet, riding gear, maintenance and unexpected needs. A manageable monthly payment leaves more room for enjoyable trips and practical ownership when running expenses change during the year.

On the comparison, the stronger engine figure is only one part of a touring decision. Check the final seat height, wind protection, tyre condition, braking feel and whether the intended luggage setup leaves enough room for a pillion. A calm highway plan needs predictable comfort and stops, not merely a higher power number.
