Quick Review by Maxabout Team

The name Vespa has always been a symbol of uniqueness, style and performance. It is an Italian brand scooter manufactured by Piaggio. In Italian, Vespa signifies to wasp and was first introduced in 1946 to the world. Since then, it became a major brand known for its painted, pressed steel unibody which encloses the engine mechanism and conceal it from dirt or grease thus provide cowling for engine in a way. Also, there is a flat floorboard for better foot protection and nice front fairing to provide protection against strong winds. In 2012, Piaggio launched a newer, bold series of scooters with unique retro styling which were greatly appreciated by people of every age.

Exterior

The exterior of Vespa S 125 features the same retro styling as its earlier models that we saw last year except a few changes. It has a rectangular headlight with chrome around it, monocoque steel body which always been Vespa's unique feature, rear view mirrors with chrome finishing, a chrome bar on front mudguard, a saddle with original finishing, chrome around the tail light, dedicated graphics, white piping and thermo bonding, 11-inch alloy wheels, clear lens in-built turn indicators at front and rear and sharp lines on side panels. It includes an analogue Fuel Gauge, Speedometer and Odometer and a Digital clock with buttons to set its time. It also has a low fuel indicator, low battery indicator and a pass light.

Dimensions and Safety Features

Vespa S has a length of 1770mm and width of 740mm as its dimension. It has 1280mm of wheelbase for a stable ride and 8.70 litres of fuel tank capacity. Vespa S 125 has a new beautiful instrument console in black color. Another new feature is that this engine is mated with CVT transmission. Vespa S is a very comfortable scooter with its long and wide seat, nicely placed handle bar, buttons on handle bar with premium touch, clear and easily understandable instrument panel and flat floor board with plenty of legroom and has a good riding stance. For the safety of the rider, it has its monocoque steel body that provides protection at the time of any collision.

Engine and Gearbox

Vespa S 125 has a good 125cc, single cylinder, 3-valve, 4-stroke, Air-cooled engine with a maximum power of 10.06 bhp at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.6 Nm at 6000 rpm and has automatic gears and dry centrifugal clutch. It has a top speed of 95 kmph and has a good fuel economy of around 55-60kmpl.

Brakes and Suspension

For storage, it has a big, in-built lockable glove box, an under seat storage space and a bag hook just above the floorboard. It has 200mm disk brake at front and 110mm drum brake at rear. The suspension system is a Single-sided Trailing link at front and Hydraulic shock absorber at rear. It has a superior ride quality than all the other scooters you have seen and doesn't produce any noise and vibrations even at high speeds. Piaggio Vespa S 125 is a variant of Vespa S along with 50 and 150.

Verdict

Overall, it is an exclusive scooter which is not made for everyone because of its high price but certainly has tremendous styling features to outweigh its price and steal your heart.

A year ago, We bought a scooter from Mehar Motors Chandigarh. Sadly, a mechanical problem caused the scooter to tumble onto the road. Now it looks that we need to fix a part, and poor petrol quality is the root of the problem as per a person called Mr Arjun who works in Mehar Motors Chandigarh. I'm not sure who to complain to about the subpar petrol—the Indian government or Vespa, which ought to make its motor parts to survive Indian petrol of that caliber. Finally, we visited a roadside technician in the Chandigarh Motor Market, and they informed us that the issue with the BS6 Vespa scooter was fairly prevalent.

It's a really amazing scooter to buy. My Red Vespa S125 is around 8 months old and it's really worth it. The scooter was stable even when I took it to speeds up to a 110 km/hr. It is an amazing companion.

Best Features: 110km/hr monster

Pros: Styling, uniqueness and road prescence

Cons: The only dislike is the leg rest area for the driver has a hump which is not favorable.
