General information and overview

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R is a sporty and powerful motorcycle that has made a significant impact in the Indian market. Powered by a 249 cc, 4-stroke, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled parallel twin engine, it produces 31.5 BHP at 8500 RPM, offering excellent mid-range torque and high-speed performance. The bike features a 6-speed gearbox, disc brakes on both wheels, and a sporty seating position that is comfortable despite its aggressive stance. The Ninja 250R also boasts sharp and agile handling, making it a delight on both city roads and highways. With its stunning looks, excellent brakes, and smooth engine, this bike is ideal for riders who value performance, style, and reliability. However, its important to note the tyres poor performance in wet conditions and the need for occasional aftermarket modifications for enhanced comfort and performance.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R is a stellar performer in the quarter-liter segment, offering a blend of style, performance, and handling that is hard to match. Despite its higher price point, which may deter some buyers, the bikes exceptional braking system, smooth 6-speed gearbox, and powerful 249 cc parallel twin engine make it a standout. The bikes sporty seating position and agile handling make it a joy to ride, both in city traffic and on open highways. However, it does come with some drawbacks, such as the hard seat and poor tyre performance in wet conditions. Overall, if you can afford it, the Ninja 250R is a worthwhile investment for those seeking a high-performance bike that delivers on multiple fronts.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R was priced competitively but on the higher side for its segment. The ex-showroom price was around 2 lakhs, which translated to an on-road price of approximately 2.3 to 2.5 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. While this price may have been steep for many Indian buyers, the bikes advanced technology, superior performance, and premium build quality justified the cost. For those willing to invest in a high-quality motorcycle, the Ninja 250R offered unparalleled value in terms of performance and features.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R offers decent mileage, considering its performance-oriented nature. In city conditions, you can expect around 25 kmpl, while on highways, this figure can increase to about 27 kmpl. These numbers are respectable for a bike that delivers such strong performance and handling. While it may not be the most fuel-efficient option, the Ninja 250R strikes a good balance between power and economy, making it a viable choice for daily riding as well as occasional long trips.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R is the best 250cc sports tourer till date

Summary

This is the best bike I have owned till date.
Once known as a pocket rocket when launched in India.
Turns every head when you stand in a signal.
The sweet sound of a Parallel Twin Engine is music to ears.
The engine refinement is beautiful, doesn't disappoint you at higher revs.
Has an amazing 17 liter of tank capacity which reduces refueling stress while touring.
Kawasaki parts are very reliable though the availability is a problem and are costly, but good things come for a price.

My Best Purchase of Life

Kawasaki Ninja 250R was like a dream come true to me. The day I bought it, I become the centre of attraction every time I go on road. Initially, I found it pretty heavy to ride in traffic. But after spending some time with this power machine, I become familiar and now I can ride it like any other bike. Though the seating position of bike is sporty but it is comfortable too. The best riding experience comes when you cross 6000RPM and it is best experience in the 250cc class. I personally never found any problem in this bike.

One of The Best Purchases of My Life

Summary

I have a great passion for bikes. And owing bike like Kawasaki Ninja 250R is really a great experience.
I have a great passion for bikes. And owing bike like Kawasaki Ninja 250R is really a great experience. I bought my bike on February 24, 2013. Its looks are quite sporty and it is the best looking bike in its category. It has a powerful braking system which gives me confidence on high speed. The strong suspension is successful in handling bumps and potholes smoothly. Handling wise, my motorcycle is undoubtedly the great machine in its segment. Talking about its cons, it is difficult to ride in constant and long traffic conditions. It is also very expensive and also has high maintenance which is not obviously a cup of tea of every person.

Vehicle Overview
Kawasaki Ninja 250R was discontinued to make way for the Ninja 300 in India. The twin-cylinder, 249cc machine was good for 32.5 HP and 22 Nm of torque. It was last sold for INR 3.03 lakh and had no direct rivals during its popularity. It came with a single headlight design while the new Ninja 300 supported dual headlights with a more appealing design. Internationally, Ninja 250 competes against Yamaha R25 and Hyosung GD250R.

Almost three years ago, India got its first 250cc sports bike, Kawasaki Ninja250R. This bike created a very less known segment of bikes in India. Ever since its launch, the bike had monopoly in the market. The bike had no competition with anyone. But now, Honda has launched its CBR250R to take on this bike. Will Ninja be able to survive? Let’s check out.
