Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hyosung GT650R is a formidable contender in the mid-size sports bike segment in India. What stands out immediately is its striking design and aerodynamic styling, which not only looks appealing but also enhances its performance. The bikes 647cc V-twin engine, producing 72.68 bhp and 60.9 Nm of torque, delivers exceptional power and torque, making it a joy to ride, especially on straight highways where it remains stable even at high speeds. However, the bike does have some rough edges, such as noticeable vibrations at high revs and heat generation in slow-moving traffic. Despite these, the overall riding experience is very positive, with excellent acceleration, predictable handling, and good balance in corners. The brakes, equipped with all-round discs and Bridgestone tyres, are very effective. While it may not be perfect, the GT650R is a worthy machine that will put a smile on your face every time you ride it.
Price
The Hyosung GT650R, when it was available in the Indian market, was priced competitively. The ex-showroom price typically ranged between 4.75 lakh to 5.25 lakh, depending on the region and any additional features. On-road prices, including registration, insurance, and other costs, would usually be around 5.5 lakh to 6.5 lakh. Given its performance and features, the GT650R offered good value for money, especially when compared to other sports bikes in its class. However, its important to note that prices can vary based on the state and local taxes, and since the bike is no longer in production, prices for used models would be significantly lower.
Latest Updates
Saturday, 14 September 2024 06:34 AM
The 2025 Hyosung GT650R has been launched with several updates, including a new aggressive design, fresh color schemes, and updated graphics. The bike features a 647cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine producing 72 horsepower and a lightweight chassis weighing around 215 kg. This combination makes for an exciting and agile riding experience. I think the new design and improved performance will attract a lot of attention in the Indian market.

Hyosung has introduced ABS as a standard feature in the 2025 GT650R, enhancing safety and control, especially in tricky riding conditions. The bike also boasts a modern digital instrument cluster displaying key information like speed, fuel level, and gear position. This addition of advanced technology should make the bike more appealing to tech-savvy riders. I believe this update will significantly improve the bikes overall safety and user experience.

In previous models, the Hyosung GT650R faced issues such as poor build quality and reliability problems, including parts falling off, like the front right indicator. However, the company has been working to improve these aspects. For instance, the 2013 model saw significant upgrades in suspension and braking, making it more competent and confidence-inspiring. I hope the new models continue this trend of improvement.

The 2013 Hyosung GT650 was praised for its value, offering a new-bike warranty and improved performance at a competitive price of Rs. 3,40,000 (approximately, adjusted for inflation). The bike featured a license-built SV motor, better instruments, and a stylish tail section. Despite some flaws, it was seen as a practical and fun-to-ride machine. I think this pricing strategy helped Hyosung gain more market share in India.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 11:06 PM
The mileage of the Hyosung GT650R is respectable for a sports bike of its caliber. In city conditions, you can expect around 17-18 kmpl, while on the highways, it can deliver up to 20-22 kmpl. These figures are based on real-world usage and reviews from owners who have ridden the bike extensively. The fuel efficiency is decent considering the bikes powerful V-twin engine and its intended use for spirited riding. Regular maintenance, such as timely oil changes and proper riding habits, can help optimize the mileage. Overall, the GT650R strikes a good balance between performance and fuel economy.
