Honda CLIQ Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Honda Scooter and Motorcycle India is currently the second most-selling brand of the country. It is presently dominating the scooter segment with no other manufacturer even selling half the number of scooters as Honda. After creating a 1.5 decade long term of trust with the buyers, Honda Cliq was recently launched in India for INR 42,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Targeting a different set of buyers, Honda Cliq is affordable and an excellent replacement for an entry level motorcycle. Honda Navi was even launched with the same intention but was unable to create the magic that was once seen by the introduction of Activa. As majority of the parts are same as existing scooters, placing Navi or Cliq at a better point could help them create their own market space.
When talking typically about Cliq, it is an all-new design that gets inspired from Honda's international models. A different type of body design will help it make a separate fan following in the coming times. More than that, it could fetch a number of buyers from other scooter manufacturers who are just looking for an entry level scooter under INR 50,000 (on-road, most of the Indian states).
Honda CLIQ Design & Style
Honda Cliq is a watered down version of a typical moto-scooter. It seems more like a mature machine that does not require a hump in its seat to prove its worth to the buyer. Sharing the same frame as Honda Activa and Navi, it carries the same base design with a step-through space and rider friendly seat.
Honda Navi style round panel is placed within the side body while Activa-i style thin rear section completes the rear end. If this section was not so pleasing to the eye, moving to the front could get you some relief for sure. The front now comes with a Honda Shine headlight, smartly studded into the lower section of the body.
Some fans would call this cheating but it actually looks better than the smaller face on Honda Shine's own body. The smart move would have saved them the additional R&D cost. Ninja fans would also feel delighted if they have to own the new Honda Cliq. The turn indicators are studded into the frame in the same manner as you can see in the Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.
Cost cutting is pretty evident as clear lens were skipped for the traditional Orange ones on the Cliq. The upper section of the body look more like a headless creature. We Indian are more familiar with a covered handlebar section as most scooters were launched with this design. Honda's very own Dio is also carrying an empty fairing on the top area but Cliq is bit different in this section. It has a motorcycle style handlebar with minimal fairing at the front.
One could go for the optional large windscreen if the small one is not useful for the purpose. The rear section comes with Navi style tyre-hugger and shares the taillight and indicators with Honda CD 110 Dream. The part sharing combination looks decent on the image of the scooter . The exhaust, brakes and every other component is finished in Black for the perfect contrast.
Honda CLIQ Dimensions and Weight
Honda Cliq measures 1745 mm in length, 695 mm in width and 1039 mm in height. It carries a wheelbase of 1241 mm and offers a great ground clearance of 154 mm. The seat height is even comfortable at 743 mm. Cliq weighs 102 kg and carries a 3.5 liter fuel tank. It carries 90/100-10 rubber at both the ends and uses tubeless tyres for the riding purpose.
Honda CLIQ Engine, Mileage & Top Speed
Honda uses the tried and tested 109.19cc, single cylinder engine on the Cliq. The motor is carburetor fed and come paired to an automatic gearbox. The performance of this engine is worth praising as one cannot compare the acceleration of an Activa that is 6 kg heavier than Cliq, with the same engine sized manual geared motorcycle.
In other words, sprinting from a red light with a 110cc motorcycle and Honda Cliq would end up with the scooter wining this deal. However, other factors like rider's weight and height also effect the real world performance for sure. We would consider two same sized riders for this experiment. The claimed top speed is 83 kmph while chances are their that one could achieve a speedo indicated 90 kmph.
It is actually not recommended as the small sized tyres of a scooter are not that stable at high speeds and even Honda has made this with an intention to get city riding speeds. Performance would never disappoint you on the Cliq during city rides. However, traveling on long routes may not be a good option with the small 3.5 liter fuel tank on the scooter. You can expect Cliq to return around 42-52 kmpl mileage under routine riding conditions.
Honda CLIQ Braking & Suspension
Honda CBS is offered as standard on the Cliq, paired firmly to 130 mm drum brakes at both the ends. No disc brake option is available presently as Honda has placed this as an economical option for the masses. Front and rear gets the same suspension that is used in Honda Activa 4G and Dio. They have offered a wider foot-board for multiple purposes that Cliq will fulfill for its owner. The tyres on offer are block pattern tubeless units for better riding on all kinds of roads. Sudden deflation is also not a point to be worried on Honda Cliq.
Honda CLIQ Colours & Variants
Honda Cliq can be bought in four exciting shades namely Patriot Red, Morrocan Blue, Orcus Grey and Black. The first two shades carry White inserts within the body while the other two are dark themed options with Grey and Black as the only option. Currently, Honda Cliq is offered with a single variant that carries all the above mentioned features.
Honda CLIQ Price
Honda Cliq carries a price tag of INR 42,500 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it closer to the Navi and quite affordable when compared to Honda Activa. Honda is mixing the motorcycle genes in its scooters and results are pretty astonishing for sure.

Can anyone suggest to modify my scooter Honda Cliq? Want the seat height shorter for a comfortable ride.
13 January 2023 11:22As far as modifying the Honda Cliq goes, it is possible to lower the seat height for a more comfortable ride. This can be done by adjusting the suspension components, such as the shock absorbers, to lower the seat height. Additionally, you can also install lowering links to reduce the seat height. However, it is important to note that lowering the seat height can reduce the ground clearance of the scooter and may also affect the handling and performance of the vehicle. Therefore, it is best to consult a professional mechanic before making any modifications.

In comparison to the other scooters on the market, the Honda Cliq is an excellent choice. It's reliable, stylish, and backed by Honda's quality assurance. Great vehicle for a family
The Honda Cliq is a great vehicle for a family due to its excellent handling, good ground clearance, great mileage of 54l and smooth ride even at 80km/h. The only downside is that the suspension could have been better, the fuel tank capacity should have been higher and the body material is quite average compared to the Honda Activa. All in all, the Honda Cliq is a great vehicle for a family.
A big disappointment
After using this scooter for more than a year, I have come to the conclusion that the company's claim of 50-60 kmpl is greatly exaggerated. I'm only getting around 35 kmpl within the city and 40 kmpl on the highway, which is quite a disappointment. Even more disappointing is the fact that spare parts aren't readily available. Other than the mileage issue, the scooter is quite good and the Honda service is satisfactory. However, they are not doing a good job with free service.
