Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

The Honda Dio has been on the Indian market for quite some time. The Dio was first released in 2012 and has since received several updates. Honda Dio received a cosmetic update, as well as a new paint scheme, in 2017. The New Honda Dio is a sporty and enjoyable commuter scooter that is very popular among Indian teenagers. The automatic scooter is intended to be lighter and more colourful than its older sibling, the Activa 6G. Honda Dio received another update in 2020, this time with a BS-VI compliant engine and an updated headlamp in the Deluxe trim. A signature light on the handlebar rounds out the new Dio. Overall, the Dio is a practical scooter with many design elements that set it apart from the competition. Its appearance makes it stand out, and the BS6 upgrade maintains its sharp and aggressive sportiness.

Honda Dio Design and Style

For a scooter, the Honda Dio has a stylish design. It has a dynamic posture and an aggressive design that make it stand out. The Dio has a dynamic appearance and a sporting feel to it. The scooter has more angular body shapes that give it a trendy look. Honda offers Dio in two versions, standard and deluxe. The Honda Dio is especially popular among young people, and this is largely due to the way it looks. With the BS6 upgrade, the Dio has matured and appears to be even better than before.

Aside from the colour difference, both variants have a redesigned headlamp, position lamp, and tail lamp. The new headlamp is ultra-stylish and comes with an LED that provides adequate illumination for better nighttime visibility. In addition, the scooter has unique graphics that run across the sides and front. It also has carbon fibre-like elements that make it appear appealing. The Dio gets a cool and edgy split grab rail at the back. The scooter also has a fashionable muffler protector that keeps the feet cool. Last but not least, the Dio's seat is extremely comfortable and has a premium feel to it.

The new Honda Dio measures 1808 mm in length, 723 mm in width, and 1150 mm in height. The seat length of the scooter is 650 mm, and the wheelbase is 1260 mm. In comparison to its competitors, the scooter has a respectable 160 mm ground clearance. The new Honda Dio is a gearless scooter with a kerb weight of 105 kg and a 5.3-litre fuel tank.

Honda Dio Engine and Gearbox

2023 Honda Dio's 109.51cc fan-cooled, 4 Stroke, SI engine is BS6-compliant and is mated to a clutch-type automatic gearbox. The motor generates 7.65 hp of maximum power and 9 Nm of peak torque. The motor has good initial acceleration and provides adequate performance for city commuting. The Dio, like every other 110cc scooter in its class, lacks a strong top-end performance.

The BS6 motor has been upgraded to the point where there is no longer an audible idle tone. Although the footpegs, floorboard, and handlebar barely vibrate at moderate speeds, the scooter appears to be a little rough. However, as the speed increases, the ride quality improves noticeably.

The Dio's sensor-based PGM-FI system maintains the ideal fuel-air ratio. This contributes to the engine's efficient combustion, resulting in a stable output of power and increased mileage. Because of PGM-FI technology, the Dio is now a fuel-efficient scooter under normal riding conditions.

Honda Dio Suspension, Brakes and Tyres

The foundation of the Honda Dio is an underbone-style frame with excellent stiffness. The suspension functions of the scooter are handled by a telescopic fork in front and a 3-step adjustable type spring-loaded hydraulic suspension in the back. The new Honda Dio offers a smooth and steady ride. It easily crosses speed limits and the damaged sections of the road.

Drum brakes measuring 130mm in diameter are used on both the front and rear of the Dio. The Combi-brake System (CBS), which applies the front brake to stop the scooter while you use the rear drum brake, works in tandem with the braking system to bring the vehicle to a stop. This ensures effective braking and allows the cyclist to come to a sudden stop.

Tubeless tyres are also installed in the front and rear of the Dio. The front tyre measures 90/90-12 54J, while the rear tyre measures 90/100-10 53J. These sizes of tyres are known for providing good resistance to aquaplaning and should provide adequate grip on rough sections of the road.

Instrument Console of Honda Dio

The Standard variant of the new Honda Dio receives a basic analogue instrument cluster, whereas the Deluxe variant receives a fully digital instrument cluster. The instrument panel displays data such as the odometer, speed, fuel efficiency, service reminder, distance-to-empty, and so on. Aside from the usual trove of information, the redesigned, fully digital instrument cluster now displays real-time and average mileage.

Key Features of Honda Dio

Key features of the new Honda Dio BS6 include The ultra-stylish LED gives you a clear view of the road and is ideal for those swanky riders in the dark. New Position Lamp: The signature LED position lamp adds a dashing look to the ride and a dash of style to the rider. Telescopic Suspension and Tubeless Tyres provide less shock and more awe while riding, and its larger front wheel assists in negotiating the nastiest potholes while providing better road grip and excellent handling conditions. The new Fully Digital Meter provides precise measurements from real-time mileage to average mileage as well as on-the-go 'distance to empty' updates. External Fuel Lid, Engine Start/Stop Switch, Engine Cut Off on Side Stand, Silent Start ACG eliminates gear meshing for a silent start and lowers engine maintenance. Honda Dio is powered by the world-renowned Enhanced Smart Power Technology (eSP Technology) for a silent start, increased mileage, and reduced friction for the best riding experience. The sensor-based PGM-FI system continuously injects optimum fuel with air, resulting in efficient combustion, consistent power output, and increased mileage. Other useful features include a retractable pillion footstep, a passing switch, a split grab rail, a stylish muffler protector, a new front pocket, and under seat storage.
