USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Honda CLIQ Self is a scooter that excels in its niche as a budget-friendly, versatile vehicle, particularly suited for urban and rural commuting. Its lightweight design, weighing just 102kg, makes it highly maneuverable and easy to handle, especially in dense traffic. The scooter is powered by a reliable 109.19cc, fan-cooled engine, which provides smooth performance and decent pickup. However, it has some drawbacks, such as a small 3.5-litre fuel tank and average suspension quality. Despite these, the CLIQ Self offers great value for money, with a comfortable ride, good ground clearance, and an attractive price point. It is an excellent choice for those seeking a practical and economical scooter for daily use.
Price
The Honda CLIQ Self, although discontinued, was priced very competitively during its time in the market. The ex-showroom price in India was around Rs 45,329, making it one of the most affordable 110cc scooters available. On-road prices would have varied slightly depending on the state and local taxes, but it generally remained under Rs 50,000. This pricing strategy was a key factor in its appeal, especially for budget-conscious buyers looking for a reliable and efficient scooter. The affordability of the CLIQ Self was a significant selling point, making it accessible to a wide range of consumers.
Latest Updates
Sunday, 15 March 2020 01:30 AM The Honda Cliq, once targeted at the rural and semi-urban markets in India, has been discontinued due to poor sales. The scooter failed to meet the BS6 emission norms and was taken off the market in March 2020. I think this decision was inevitable given the stringent emission standards.
Friday, 15 December 2017 02:42 AM The Honda Cliq was awarded the 2018 CNB Scooter of the Year, highlighting its dominance in the scooter segment. This award was a significant recognition of the scooters capabilities and appeal. I think this award boosted its credibility among potential buyers.
Monday, 13 November 2017 02:08 PM In less than four months, Honda sold over 10,000 units of the Cliq in India, indicating a strong initial reception. The scooters utility features and affordability were major factors in its early success. I believe the sales figures showed promise, but sustainability was an issue.
Wednesday, 19 July 2017 11:33 AM Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) had launched the Cliq in various states, including Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, with prices starting from Rs. 43,076 in Maharashtra. The scooter was positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Activa. I believe the pricing strategy was a key factor in its initial appeal.
Thursday, 22 June 2017 05:43 PM The Cliq had a unique design with faux carbon-fibre finish on the plastic panels and a handlebar similar to a motorcycle. It also included accessories like a luggage rack and a storage box. I think the design was a mix of style and practicality.
Thursday, 22 June 2017 07:29 AM The scooter had a kerb weight of 102 kg and a seat height of 743 mm, making it accessible for a wide range of riders, including women. The ground clearance of 154 mm and wheelbase of 1241 mm contributed to its stability. I believe these dimensions made it user-friendly.
Thursday, 22 June 2017 02:09 PM Honda Cliq was equipped with 10-inch wheels shod with block pattern tubeless tyres, which provided adequate grip and stability on various terrains. The suspension included a telescopic fork at the front and a single shock at the rear. I think the suspension and tyre setup were well-suited for Indian roads.
Thursday, 22 June 2017 12:04 PM The Cliq had a fuel tank capacity of 3.5 litres, which was relatively small compared to other scooters in the market. Despite this, it offered good fuel economy and was economical to run. I believe the smaller fuel tank was a trade-off for its overall efficiency.
Wednesday, 21 June 2017 07:28 PM The Cliq was powered by a 109.19 cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine producing 8 bhp of power and 8.94 Nm of torque. It also featured a V-MATIC automatic transmission and a claimed mileage of 60 kmpl. I think the engines refinement and fuel economy were notable strengths.
Wednesday, 21 June 2017 12:08 PM The scooter came with several practical features, including a Combi Braking System (CBS), Automatic Headlamp On (AHO), and a mobile charging socket. These features enhanced safety and convenience. I believe these additions made it a compelling option for daily commuters.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 02:06 AM The Honda CLIQ Self is known for its impressive fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. Honda claims a mileage of around 60kmpl, although real-world tests suggest it averages between 45-50kmpl, and some users have reported up to 54-57kmpl. This variability is common, but the scooter generally delivers good mileage, making it a cost-effective option for daily commuting. The fuel efficiency, combined with its small fuel tank, means that while you may need to refuel more frequently, the overall cost of ownership remains low. Great vehicle for a family

Punit Kumar | 2 years ago

The Honda Cliq is a great vehicle for a family due to its excellent handling, good ground clearance, great mileage of 54l and smooth ride even at 80km/h. The only downside is that the suspension could have been better, the fuel tank capacity should have been higher and the body material is quite average compared to the Honda Activa. All in all, the Honda Cliq is a great vehicle for a family.

A big disappointment

After using this scooter for more than a year, I have come to the conclusion that the company's claim of 50-60 kmpl is greatly exaggerated. I'm only getting around 35 kmpl within the city and 40 kmpl on the highway, which is quite a disappointment. Even more disappointing is the fact that spare parts aren't readily available. Other than the mileage issue, the scooter is quite good and the Honda service is satisfactory. However, they are not doing a good job with free service.
