Honda CBR250R (Old Model)

About
The Honda CBR250R, introduced in India in 2011, is a sports touring motorcycle that combines the looks of a sport bike with the comfort and reliability of a tourer. Powered by a liquid-cooled 249cc single-cylinder DOHC engine, it produces 25 bhp and 22.9 Nm of torque, making it capable of cruising at speeds of 120-130 kmh with ease. The bike features a six-speed transmission and is available in both non-ABS and ABS variants. Its handling is praised for being nimble and responsive, while the braking system, especially the ABS version, is highly regarded for its confidence-inspiring performance. The CBR250R also boasts a comfortable riding position and good wind protection, making it an excellent choice for long-distance rides. Despite some minor issues like the need for frequent gear shifts in city traffic and the less-than-ideal saree guard design, the CBR250R remains a popular and reliable option for Indian bikers.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Honda CBR250R, particularly the older models, has proven to be a reliable and versatile motorcycle for Indian roads. From my experience and various owner reviews, it is clear that this bike excels in its engine refinement, handling, and long-distance touring capabilities. The liquid-cooled 249cc single-cylinder engine provides a linear power delivery, making it comfortable for both city rides and highway cruises. However, the bike does have some drawbacks, such as the lack of low-end torque and the necessity of frequent gear shifts in city traffic. Despite these, the CBR250Rs reliability, consistent mileage, and robust build make it a solid choice for those prioritizing long-distance touring and everyday commuting.
Price
When the Honda CBR250R was launched in India, the ex-showroom price for the non-ABS version was around 1.60 lakh to 1.70 lakh, while the ABS version was priced slightly higher at around 1.90 lakh to 2.00 lakh. On-road prices, including registration, insurance, and other costs, would typically range from 2.00 lakh to 2.50 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. Considering the performance, features, and reliability it offers, the CBR250R was competitively priced in the Indian market, especially when compared to other bikes in its segment like the Kawasaki Ninja 250R.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 08:39 PM The Honda CBR250R is known for its consistent and respectable mileage. Owners have reported an average fuel efficiency of around 30-35 kml in mixed riding conditions, which is commendable for a 250cc motorcycle. This makes it a frugal option for both daily commuting and long-distance touring, helping to keep running costs manageable.

Honda CBR250R (Old Model) Review

27 Dec, 2021 10:54 AM

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

2018 Honda CBR250R was recently launched in India for INR 1,63,584 (ex-showroom Delhi). Not just that, Honda even brought the ABS equipped model in India for INR 1,93,107. The design language remains exactly the same as first generation CBR250R while use of better LED lights and paint combinations has made CBR250R a great option to own.

It comes powered by the tried and tested, ultra reliable 249.6cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine producing 26.5 PS at 8500 rpm and 22.9 Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Honda uses 110/70-17 front and 140/70-17 rear tyre for maximum grip levels. ABS version offers Nissin brake calipers and thus, command suh high premium than the non ABS version.

Front disc measures 296 mm while rear is 220 mm in diameter. As the bike weighs 167 kg, it performs extremely well when compared to heavier bikes with bigger engines. Fuel tank still carries 13 liters of petrol and thus, one can expect 400 kilometers of overall range. Highway riding can offer even better range as most owners use their CBR250Rs for long distance touring due to its reliable nature.

CBR250R is available in Matte Axis Grey Metallic with Orange and Striking Green (two different shades), Pearl Sports Yellow and Sports Red shade. Front LED headlight is placed within the same sort of space and thus, one can replace their existing halogen units with this one easily. Instrument console on CBR250R is semi digital with analog tachometer and digital speedometer. Honda CBR250R rivals many bikes but closest possible option is KTM RC200.

The price gap is minimal between both these. When it comes to ABS variant, it challenges recently launched TVS Apache RR 310 in India. Both have a price gap of INR 22,000 in some states and just INR 3000 in Kerala.

Cross Beam Racer 250 R

CBR should be a genre of Cross Beam Racer but not this 250R. Its more of a compromise on quick bike to make a to do all tourer. Comfortable stance with good wind block from the fairing. Quality of components is really good but misses out on no. of components, like side stand indicator and no radiator protection. First thing I did was dump those ContiGO's/MRF's and put Michelin Street Pilot radials the accuracy on leans and grip is way sorted than stock (note rounder profile of rear tyre makes it a bit shaky after 100kph). It's a infantly sensitive on 1st to 3rd gear (forearm clutch exercise in traffic) but post that 4th-5th have a mid range hammer to 6th, which can take 5k to 8.5k revs; from 70kph to 130ish kph. But passing power in 7. 5k to 8. 5k revs is non-existent/mellow. To conclude, if you want one bite of all types of bikes it's a good option and is a really exciting one. Though the price and updated competitors make it hard to recommend it now. (Honda should desperately launch 300 etc.)

Best Features: 6th gear is an overide, smooth gearbox and throttle response.

Pros: Mid Range - usable power & Well dressed - fairing works.

Cons: Minimal display & Low end wrt to gear ratios.

Honda CBR250R ABS 2016 MODEL (BLACK WITH GOLDEN STICKER)

Tanmoy kanti pal | 4 years ago

The bike is really good and comfortable for touring or long rides, its a sport tourer and not completely a sport bike so don't mix and compare with KTM RC 200 or Ninja. It is best in its sphere of 250cc. Considerable mileage of 30-40kmpl if u ride it with passion rather than rudely. And last but not the least nothing is perfect so make it perfect if u want and assurance lies with brand honda itself, get the road side assistance while purchasing and extended warranty.

Best Features: Comfortable with long rides, braking system, smooth and low-mid pickup, instant pickup, horn power

Pros: Handling, comfort, smooth pickup, sitting posture, pillion comfort, grabrail, storage inside bike, exhaust sound and braking with combined abs

Cons: Headlight power comparitively low though 55/60w, cornering is not confident with this, huge difference between 1st and 2nd gear, rear mudguard not enough to resist mud splashes

Perfect Tourer for India

raghav - | 8 years ago

Fantastic bike for touring and a great starter bike, but lacks in low end torque which is needed in the city, and looks a bit outdated. Would have been nice if the 300r was released last year. Probably has the best seating position in class. Has a meaty mid range and top end, ideal for high speed cruising on highways, very stable at high speeds. Engine is not stressed and is mod capable. City riding is manageable. Very very decent return of mile age depending on the riders' s riding style. Non existent exhaust note, poor low end torque.

Best Features: The engine, coolant system, seating position

Pros: The mid range and top end, cost of spares ,engine, coolant system

Cons: Non existent exhaust note, low end torque, slightly outdated looks, display, satisfactory braking (non abs)

honda has not utilised the 200/225cc segment as a compitutor to bazaz and in absence of hero with karizma r due to its failure with version2.hero is well with 100 to 150cc bikes like splender hunk impulse .so honda is to try 220/200cc bike with Rs 100000 because it has technology of karizma engine.Hornet will not work because hunk pulser tvs rtr are there its own bike unocorn is there.

I have cbr250r and I am using it from 1 year it is very expensive and it have complaint in its engine. You have to replace its sheems which are also called as vaulves. And you have to replace these sheems after 1000 kms or less. Its brake pads are also dont have long life you have to replace the pads after 800 or 900 kms run. I am using this bike and this bike makes me unhappy always almost every month. I have every single bill which I spent on this bike. So if anyone is planning to buy this shit than please change the plan and go for any other. Ninja 300 is expensive but it have awesome performance. Only one time investment bike. Or else go for duke it far better from cbr250r. Cbr series bike is only made for revenue for company not for customers satisfaction. If any one is planning to buy honda bike than please think 10 time or more before purchasing. Thanks. Any one cal talk to me on fb.

Some people have posted weird comments. They compare a 150cc bike and 200cc bike with less horse power with this 250cc bike with more horse power. What the hell do these people have in their mind ( knock off other lower horse bikers in the city traffic). A real biker loves every other bike which has the best features in its own class.

Seems most of the comments are about racing and not about other best feature of the bike. Most of the people having higher horse power bike's ride most of the time in city traffic, and they drive very rashly(crack heads). If you think you really love your bike make the right use of it in the right place, thats the spirit of the true class biker. Otherwise it is just for immoral show off buffs swinging on the road like a flirt....
