Honda CB125R Review

23 Mar, 2018 11:46 AM

Overview

Honda had unveiled this exclusive street fighter right before EICMA 2017. Named CB125R, the retro modern naked machine carries design lines from the popular Honda Ex-Motion and adds another twist with sharper body panels and overall appeal. Honda CB125R is more of a Europe and US specific model but a highly influenced model can still arrive in India with another name, once the market gets mature enough to differentiate various licensing norms.

The 125cc, single cylinder engine is liquid cooled and fuel injected, producing nothing less than 13.14 BHP and 10 Nm of torque. It rivals Yamaha MT-125 and KTM 125 Duke internationally. The reason why it won’t work here in India is that no one will be willing to spend an amount equivalent to a full faired 150cc motorcycle that is indeed more powerful and practical than a 125cc street machine that lacks that punch of power.

Some of India’s 125cc options generate more torque than this one and that actually counts as most people buy 125cc bikes for everyday riding, most probably with a pillion. CB125R is perfect for those markets that allow engines under 125cc to be ridden without a license. Also, it carries parts that are yet to be offered on premium Indian options. Honda CB125R comes with USD forks, dual channel ABS and large disc brakes for better braking.

Also, tyre size on use here is 110mm for front and 150mm for the rear. All digital console seen on this motorcycle is shared among CB range of bikes internationally while Indian range of bikes use a different unit that changes with changing segments. Certified mileage for CB125R is quite impressive at 59 kmpl while high revving engine will excite the rider to pin the throttle harder and enjoy class leading sprints. The lightweight 126 kg body weight makes it really impressive.
