Yamaha YZF-R125 Review

16 Jan, 2019 11:53 AM

Yamaha YZF-R125 is one of the best looking bikes in the world in 125cc segment. With its unmistakable R-series styling, the R125 stands out in the crowd and is easy to be mistaken as a much larger capacity machine. The dual headlights have a distinctive R-series look, while the low frontal area and small tail of R125 are clearly influenced by the bigger R-series bikes. And like the chassis, the bodywork is full-sized, making this new sports bike the most impressive looking machines in the class.

High build quality is evident wherever you look on the new R125 and the front braking system is another example of Yamaha’s commitment to using only high-specification components. The 2019 variant is completely inspired by Indonesian spec R15. Just like its larger R-series brothers, the new R125 features a lightweight Deltabox frame which delivers an optimum balance of strength and rigidity. The twin-spar Deltabox design has proved to be one of the lightest and best-handling frame designs in the Supersport category and its use on the new R125 underlines Yamaha’s total commitment to building the best-handling machine in the class. The distinctive alloy wheels give the R125 a unique look. It has a length of 1955 mm, a width of 680 mm and a height of 1065 mm as its dimensions with a weight of 142 Kg. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 11.50-litres. Yamaha YZF-R125 features an all-digital instrument console which includes a speedometer, dual trip meter, fuel gauge, and tachometer.

The R125 is the most advanced 125cc supersport machine that Yamaha has ever built. This radical, high-revving, fuel-injected 125 is the work of the same engineers who created our legendary R1 and R6 supersport bikes. And, as you’d expect, the R125 is packed with advanced MotoGP technology as well as a whole range of R-series type engine and chassis features. Its 125cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, VVA, single cylinder engine is tuned to deliver free-revving performance right through to maximum power of 14.88 bhp at 9000 rpm and a maximum torque of 12.4 Nm at 8000 rpm.

For instant response and efficient operation, this remarkable 6-speed R125 is equipped with a compact fuel injection system. Yamaha R125 features a large diameter 292mm front single disc with a 230mm diameter rear disc for effective stopping power. The suspension duties are handled by the upside-down telescopic fork at the front and linked mono-cross with spring upload at the back. The race-inspired chassis of Yamaha R125 features an aluminium swingarm for outstanding handling performance and lightweight wheels help by minimizing the unsprung weight to give impressive road holding. The compact wheelbase of 1355 mm offers you a stable ride while the 155 mm of ground clearance makes it perfect for rough and tough roads.
