Honda Activa-i Deluxe
Honda Variant
General information and overview
The Honda Activa-i Deluxe is a sleek and modern scooter designed to cater to the needs of urban commuters. Powered by a 109.19cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine, it produces 8.03PS and 8.94Nm of torque, mated to a CVT gearbox. This scooter is known for its lightweight body, weighing just 103kg, and its compact design, which includes a low seat height of 765mm. It features 10-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres and 130mm drum brakes at both ends, along with Hondas Combined Brake System. The Activa-i Deluxe comes with a 5.3-litre fuel tank, an 18-litre underseat storage, and an optional mobile charging socket. The scooter is available in several dual-tone color options and a Matt Axis Grey Metallic variant, adding to its aesthetic appeal. With its comfortable seating, ample storage, and modern features like the 4-in-1 lock switch, the Activa-i Deluxe is a well-rounded package for those seeking a reliable and stylish scooter.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Honda Activa-i Deluxe is a compelling option in the 110cc scooter segment, particularly for those seeking a blend of style, comfort, and practicality. Its lightweight design, weighing just 103kg, makes it highly manageable in urban environments, which is a significant advantage for both new and experienced riders. The scooters modern design cues, including vibrant color options and sleek body panels, give it a trendy appeal that stands out in the market. The 109.19cc engine, though not the most powerful, provides sufficient torque and a smooth ride, making it ideal for daily commuting. Additionally, features like the 4-in-1 lock switch, underseat storage, and optional mobile charging socket enhance its convenience factor. However, the braking system, which relies on 130mm drum brakes at both ends, could be improved for better safety. Overall, the Activa-i Deluxe is a solid choice for those looking for a reliable, stylish, and easy-to-handle scooter.
Recent news and announcements
The Honda Activa-i Deluxe, known for its sleek and lightweight design, has been a favorite among Indian scooter enthusiasts. In its 2019 update, the Activa-i Deluxe came with a refreshed instrument cluster and a 4-in-1 lock switch, similar to those seen on the Grazia and Activa 5G. This update also introduced a new color option and enhanced convenience features like an 18-liter underseat storage capacity. I think these updates made the Activa-i Deluxe even more appealing to those looking for a stylish and practical scooter.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) launched the updated Activa-i in 2018 with cosmetic upgrades and new color options. The 2018 model saw a marginal price hike to Rs. 50,010 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This update kept the Activa-i competitive in the Indian market with its modern looks and reliable performance. I believe the new colors really gave it a fresh look.
In 2016, HMSI introduced the updated Activa-i with three new color options, priced at Rs. 46,596 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This move was part of Hondas strategy to keep their models fresh and appealing to a wider audience. The Activa-i remained a popular choice due to its lightweight body and efficient engine. I think the color additions were a great move to attract more buyers.
The Honda Activa-i Deluxe is powered by a 109.19cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine that produces 8 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and 8.94 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. This engine, combined with a V-Matic transmission, ensures smooth city riding and impressive fuel efficiency. I believe this engine is one of the reasons the Activa-i Deluxe is so popular.
The scooter boasts a ground clearance of 165 mm, which is sufficient to handle the rough patches and bumps common on Indian roads. Its lightweight body and fiber construction make it easy to maneuver, adding to its efficiency and comfort. I believe this ground clearance is a significant advantage.
Pricing details and changes
The Honda Activa-i Deluxe is priced competitively in the Indian market. As of the latest updates, the ex-showroom price in Delhi is around 50,974. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the price can go up to approximately 60,000 to 65,000, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing makes the Activa-i Deluxe an attractive option compared to its competitors like the Hero Pleasure and TVS Wego. The slight premium over its predecessors is justified by the additional features and the refreshed design, making it a good value for money.
Fuel efficiency information
The Honda Activa-i Deluxe boasts an impressive mileage, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. Honda claims that this scooter can achieve a mileage of 66kmpl, which is quite commendable given its engine specifications. In real-world conditions, you can expect a mileage of around 55-60 kmpl, depending on riding conditions and traffic. This efficiency helps in keeping the running costs low, making it an economical choice for daily commuting.

Expert Verdict

The Activa-i has been refreshed with a colourful feel, making it more attractive than any of the scooter in the segment.
Design & Style
The Activa-i DLX has been limited to two shades. The design remains the same as the earlier Activa-i, with variations in its inner body panels and body color only. The Pearl Amazing White shade of the Activa comes with mauve inner panels. The combination looks beautiful on the newly arrived whereas the other shade, Orchid Purple Metallic comes with black inner panels only. The new shades have stickers on both sides, making them more attractive than the standard variant.
Honda Activa-i Deluxe Engine & Performance
The engine of the Activa-i DLX remains the same. The 109.2 cc motor, which also comes in all the other 110 cc offerings produce 8 BHP @ 7500 rpm and 8.74 NM @ 5500 rpm. The automatic gearbox remains the same as the Activa 3G, with the DLX reaching a top speed of 83 kmph. The tank remains the same at 5.3 litres.
Honda Activa-i Deluxe Suspension & Brakes
Activa-i uses the spring loaded hydraulic shock absorbers for the front, which sounds a bit odd as they are very out-dated from their functional point of view. The rear has a single spring loaded hydraulic shock absorber. The suspension works efficiently, but telescopic is being expected by riders from Honda. Braking has always been a best part for the Honda two wheelers. It is facilitated by 130 mm of drum brakes for both the wheels, making them more efficient with the help of Honda's CBS (combi braking system). Pressing a single lever applies both the brakes, leading to safer and balanced braking force generation.
Honda Activa-i Deluxe Colours & Ex-showroom Price
The DLX Activa-i comes in two shades, Pearl Amazing White and Orchid Purple Metallic. The price of the newcomer rises by INR 490 above the STD variant, making it INR 46,703 for both the shades.
