Benelli TRK 502 Review

29 Dec, 2015 10:17 AM

EICMA 2015 brought another Benelli into the playground. This time, a full fledged sports tourer named as TRK 502, which again can be named as TRK 500 in the country. The motorcycle carries a different DNA than normal Benelli's Indian bikes. The newcomer will focus on the adventure oriented bike lovers of the country with its extensive touring abilities.

Design and Style

The ideal tourer designing on the TRK 502 includes the extended suspension, huge front body design with extended front windshield and a lower rider seat height. More attractions include the handlebar covers and 12-spoke black alloy wheels. The TRK 500 even gets a good amount of space below the engine bay for mild off road purposes also. The crash bars around the fairing and engine bay makes it a safe and responsible ride on rough surfaces.

Dimensions and Fuel Tank Capacity

The newcomer measures 2380mm in length, 912mm in width and 1465mm in height. The seat height measures 815mm, with a ground clearance of 230mm. These figures confirm that the bike comes with a high neck attitude and comes with extensive road presence. The fuel tank for the same is 20 liters.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine on the TRK 502 is an inline twin cylinder 499.6cc unit producing 47 BHP @ 8500 rpm and 45 NM @ 4500 rpm. The gearbox is 6-speed and the availability of full torque at lower rpm makes touring a delightful experience. The motorcycle shares the engine with the newly launched Leoncino Scrambler.

Brakes and Suspension

The front uses 320mm disc brake whereas the rear gets a 260mm disc unit. The suspension on the front end is USD forks with 150 mm travel whereas the rear is a central shock absorber with 144mm of travel. The adventure tourer comes with 17 inch tyres with alloy wheels.

Shades and Price

EICMA 2015 displayed a White TRK 502 whereas more colors would be provided for the same later. It is expected to launch in India with a price tag of INR 4,00,000. The competitive price factor would bring more motorcycling fans to the touring section, enjoying longer rides with more comfort than many others in the segment.
