Vehicle Overview Bajaj Pulsar RS400 would be the next big thing for the Indian motorcycle manufacturer, most probably serving as the flagship motorcycle in the coming time. It will be truly based on the RS200 in terms of design and may carry the same frame as Dominar 400 for better rigidity. The engine would be shared with the KTM family, most probably producing around 40+ BHP and 35 Nm of torque from the liquid cooled and fuel injected motor. The best part would be its high rpm limit, making it a hard revving model when compared to the Dominar 400. It would rival KTM RC 390 and other motorcycles with 300+cc of engine displacement.

Bajaj Pulsar RS400 Review

19 Dec, 2016 01:05 PM

The India's favourite sportbike series got a new captain to the team. As spotted on a service station, the new Bajaj Pulsar RS400 got itself a production ready version now. One of the most awaited sportbike, the Pulsar RS400 comes in the same clothes as the younger version, the RS200. As seen in the photos, the Pulsar is identical except the RS400 badge, which will declare it the new fastest Pulsar on road.

Design and Style

The design of the Pulsar remains the same, keeping all the cuts and curves on the same place. It carries the same twin-projector headlamps and LED eyebrows. The rear witness the same tail light, with everything matching the RS200. It seems as if the engine has been swapped with a bigger unit and a new sticker has been used on the rear panel only. No doubt the styling is very good, fits perfect to the Pulsar image, but fans will be disappointed with the missing massiveness if it is launched exactly the same. Few changes would have easily differentiated the machine from the younger ones, even a color change would have worked to some extent.

Engine & Performance

The Pulsar RS400 is coming with a 373.2 cc engine, producing 40-42 BHP and 33-35 NM of torque, which may vary with the state of tuning of the engine. The gearbox would stay 6-speed, with different gear ratios for the bigger machine. The engine will stay single cylinder and triple spark technology would be used in the RS400. The ABS is said to be dual channel and standard on the model, which does not end the possibility of option being provided by Bajaj as being provided in the lower powered RS200.

Brakes & Suspension

The braking on the RS200 was handled by a 300 mm disc brake, which we expect to be changed to 320 mm in the RS400. Also the rear disc measures 230 mm, which when coupled with ABS would surely make better option than the standard arrangement. The speed close to 170 kmph will require better brakes for sure. The suspension would be handled by the same telescopic forks and monoshock at the rear as the weight increase would not be much this time.

Variants & Expected Ex-showroom Price

The Pulsar RS400 is expected to be available in 2 variants: non-abs and one with ABS (dual channel) as standard. It is expected to be priced nearlyINR 1.60 lakhs for the base model.
