28 Sep, 2016 07:29 AM

As per the latest details available, Bajaj VS400 will be sold under Kratos brand name, not under Pulsar nameplate as it was supposed to be previously. Bajaj Kratos 400 is expected to be priced around 1.60-1.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Rajiv Bajaj recently confirmed the launch details of the company's 1st 400cc motorcycle, Bajaj Kratos will be launched in India in November 2016.

Maxabout leaked the ARAI certificate of Pulsar VS400 a few days ago, which revealed the exact power value the bike generates. Kratos VS400 develops 35 HP @ 8000 rpm, which clearly indicates that it is a cruiser motorcycle and Bajaj has reduced the power value in comparison to KTM 390 Duke's 43 HP. To perform like a proper cruiser bike, the Kratos 400 is expected to generate a good amount of torque for good pick-up and initial acceleration.

Kratos 400 is based on the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 Concept, which was unveiled at 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi, and it is one of the most-awaited motorcycles in India since then. Kratos VS400 is the perfect blend of sportiness, style, aggressiveness, technology, performance and speed that has attracted interest of everyone due to their stunning design and a powerful 373.2cc engine from KTM 390 Duke.

Design and Style

Bajaj Kratos VS400 has got a brilliant design and a lot of remarkable features which makes it a tough competitor and can even be regarded as a beefier version of Pulsar 200NS. It includes a bright LED headlight, a conventional handlebar with a well sculpted fuel tank, unique gear indicator, a stylish exhaust, good riding position, a step-up seat, rear grab handle, stylish alloy wheels with MRF tyres, small turn indicators and a bright tail light. Sadly, the upside-down front forks won't make to the production model, and it will come with conventional telescopic front forks.

Instrument Panel

The Kratos VS400 features a fully digital instrument console which includes a digital speedometer, fuel gauge, tachometer, trip meters, a clock, pass light and a low fuel, oil and battery indicators along with a stand alarm. Blue color has been used in LCD for a better illumination and imparts a futuristic look. It is going to be the 1st Bajaj bike to come with split instrument console like the Ducati Diavel, yes! it will come with twin LCDs, one between the handlebar, and second one placed on the fuel tank.

Engine and Gearbox

Bajaj Kratos 400 will be equipped with 373.2cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine with Bajaj's triple spark technology to develop maximum power of 34.51 Bhp @ 8000 rpm. The torque value has not been revealed yet. The engine of Bajaj Kratos is mated with a 6-speed gearbox transmission.

Acceleration and Performance

Kratos VS400 can hit a top speed of above 150+ kmph and will take about 7-8 seconds to reach 0-100 kmph acceleration. The bike gives an excellent performance on road along with an expected mileage of 25-30 kmpl (expected approximate figure).

Brakes and Suspension

Bajaj Kratos VS400 is expected to be equipped with a 300mm disc brake at the front and 230mm disc brake at the rear end along with the availability of ABS on both the wheels (most probably it will be optional). The suspension system comprises of conventional telescopic at the front while mono-shock absorbers are placed at the rear end.

Variants, Shades, and Price

Bajaj Kratos VS400 will be available in two variants which includes the VS400 Standard and the VS400 ABS. It is expected to be available in four exciting shades of Red, Yellow, Blue and Black. The expected ex-showroom price of Kratos VS400 is INR 1.60 lakhs and INR 1.80 lakhs for the non-ABS variant and ABS variant respectively.
