Is this a fancy WagonR or does the Kia Syros have what it takes to be a game changer for urban families?
06 January 2025 07:32
Game-changer? Hardly. This is Kia attempting to start a new segment for the purpose of justifying higher prices. It's a mess of a design, and I don't think it'll age well. A proper compact SUV like Sonet or Venue would have families in a better state.

I actually like the design. It's different and it's noticeable. And the practicality factor is huge too. In this segment, sliding rear seats is a big deal. This could be a hit with young families who want something practical but don't want to look like they are driving their dad's car if the price is right.
Will the Kia Syros eat up sales from the Sonet and Seltos or find its own space?
06 January 2025 07:32
I believe it'll find its own niche. Its sliding rear seats and boxy design are unique enough to draw in the right set of buyers. If you don't want the bulk but need SUV like space, this is just the thing.
Will the Kia Syros eat up sales from the Sonet and Seltos or find its own space?

Clearly, Sonet sales are going to be eaten into. So why would anyone buy a Sonet when you can get more space and features for a bit more money in the Syros? Kia are shooting themselves in the foot here.
Will the Kia Syros eat up sales from the Sonet and Seltos or find its own space?
06 January 2025 07:32
I don't think it'll cannibalize a lot of sales. The Syros is more of a tall hatchback, the Sonet and Seltos are proper SUVs. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.
Will the Kia Syros eat up sales from the Sonet and Seltos or find its own space?
06 January 2025 07:32
In fact, it might end up helping Kia get more market share. The middle option is now for those who find the Sonet too small and the Seltos too big. Kia has done a smart move to fill every possible gap in the market.
Will the Kia Syros eat up sales from the Sonet and Seltos or find its own space?

I fear it's just going to confuse buyers. This seems to be trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist when Kia already has a solid lineup. Instead they should have worked on improving the Sonet.
Will the Kia Syros eat up sales from the Sonet and Seltos or find its own space?

Honestly, it could go either way. It could create a new segment if priced right. But if it gets too close to the Sonet or Seltos in terms of pricing, it will definitely cannibalize sales. This one is a tricky one for Kia to tread.
Is the infotainment system on the Kia Sportage a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:29
I have honestly never been happier with the infotainment than I am with the Sportage. The screen is super modern, I mean large, and the interface is pretty intuitive. No, it's not perfect, but whose cars system is? I’ve had mine for 6 months now and any initial bugs seem to have been worked out with updates.
Is the infotainment system on the Kia Sportage a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:29
Deal-breaker? Absolutely. I test drove the Sportage and the system was so laggy I couldn’t get passed it. In 2025, there's no reason a brand new car should have a slow infotainment system. On top of that, it's just stingy of Kia to omit wireless CarPlay from lower trims.
Is the infotainment system on the Kia Sportage a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:29
I don't think people are making too big a deal out of this. For what most people need - navigation, music and phone calls - the infotainment is fine. If you’re looking for a tech powerhouse, buy a Tesla. It may have quirks in the infotainment department, but overall the Sportage gives you great value elsewhere.
Is the infotainment system on the Kia Sportage a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:29
For someone coming from an older car, the Sportage infotainment feels like living in the future! It’s got some quirks, but the sheer amount of features and that massive screen more than make up for it. It's not perfect, and it's not a deal breaker.
Is the infotainment system on the Kia Sportage a deal breaker?
06 January 2025 07:29
The infotainment definitely isn't a deal breaker for me, but it's a con. I just wish Kia had done a little more to optimize the software. However, having said that, the rest of the car is so good that I can forgive a slightly buggy interface.
Is the Kia Sportage's design more stylish than practical?
06 January 2025 07:29
The Sportage's design, I think, is one that Kia nailed it. Yes, it's not perfect, but name one modern car where it is. I feel like I’m driving something special, not just another boring crossover, because of the style. And let's be real, the cargo space is still more than enough for most people.
Is the Kia Sportage's design more stylish than practical?
06 January 2025 07:29
Definitely all style and no substance. Rear visibility is terrible and I've had to use the backup camera much more than I'd care to. The cargo area is smaller than it appears from the outside as well. Kia tried to be too cool with it.
Is the Kia Sportage's design more stylish than practical?
06 January 2025 07:29
It’s a compromise, and one I’m happy with. My old CR-V never turned heads, but the Sportage does. Honestly, once you get used to the visibility, it's not that bad. All the driver assists also help to mitigate any blind spots.
Is the Kia Sportage's design more stylish than practical?
06 January 2025 07:29
In fact I think Kia did a great job balancing style and practicality. It's not over the top but it's fresh and I've had no space or visibility issues. It's a much more expensive feeling car than it is.
Is the Kia Sportage's design more stylish than practical?
06 January 2025 07:29
I bought the Sportage for the style, but I do wish they'd toned it down a bit for better functionality sometimes. My kids get claustrophobic on long trips because there are small rear windows. It's not a deal breaker but if you have a family this may be something you want to consider.
Is the Kia Sportage too soft a ride for enthusiastic driving?
06 January 2025 07:29
I actually really like how the Sportage rides. But it's comfortable as a daily driver, which is what most people use it for. In that case, buy a hot hatch or sports sedan if you want something sporty. It’s a family crossover, and it does that well.
Is the Kia Sportage too soft a ride for enthusiastic driving?
06 January 2025 07:29
If you're expecting anything remotely sporty the soft suspension is certainly a letdown. It feels disconnected from the road and there’s way too much body roll for my liking. A sport tuned suspension should be offered by Kia.
