How does the Kia Carnival perform compared to the usual minivans and SUVs?

Kia Carnival is being marketed as an MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) and SUV inspired design has raised questions about its driving dynamics. Minivans have traditionally been praised for their smooth, comfortable ride, but boring handling, while SUVs have been known to be more fun to drive, at the expense of some comfort. The positioning of the Carnival between these two segments has brought up the subject of how the product performs on the road. Reviewers praise the car like handing and responsive steering of this big vehicle, but others say it still feels like a big vehicle in corners. But there is also debate how the Carnival rides compared to minivans and SUVs given its size and weight. From city maneuvering to highway cruising, and even under light off road use, owners and reviewers have varied experiences what the performance of the vehicle is.

For its size, it REALLY handles well! Around town, much more car like than I expected.

It still feels like a big box on wheels to me. Not as nimble as a proper SUV, but better than old school minivans.

The steering is nice and weighted, but when you're driving a car this big you can't avoid the physics. It's comfortable, not sporty.

I think it’s a good balance. Able to park, stable on the highway and doesn't feel too boaty in corners.

I was worried, coming from an SUV, but the Carnival actually feels more planted on the road. Less body roll than I was expecting.

What it is is fine, but it's not fun to drive. It’s a people mover and it works.

I love the ride is super smooth. For a family vehicle, who cares about sporty handling?
