Could the Kia Carnival’s fuel efficiency be a deal breaker for potential buyers?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views8 answers
While the Kia Carnival with its V6 engine has been called out for not being a very fuel efficient vehicle, hybrid minivans like the Toyota Sienna remain a formidable force in offerings of efficiency over its competitors. In a time when fuel economy and environmental concerns are important to many consumers, the Carnival's relatively thirsty engine has become something of a cause célèbre. The fuel economy disadvantage is a significant draw back in a family vehicle that will see frequent use, claims some; others argue that the power and smoothness of the V6 trumps the economy. But there's also talk of whether Kia should offer a hybrid powertrain option to further compete with eco friendly alternatives. The Carnival's fuel consumption is a feature that potential buyers frequently weigh against other features and benefits of the car; and then there are debates about priorities in choosing a family vehicle versus long term ownership costs.

Fuel efficiency is fine. It won’t make a huge difference in the budget for not everyone drives enough.

It's a big issue for me. I am waiting for a hybrid version before buying, I love everything else about the Carnival.

I want that to be better, but I can live with the rest of the Carnival. It feels as luxurious as no other minivan.

It’s not as terrible as some portray it. I’m getting better mileage on road trips than the EPA estimates.

I was on the fence, but after doing the long term costs, I went with a hybrid minivan. The savings add up.

It's disappointing in terms of fuel efficiency, but it's worth it. So I just budget a little bit more for gas.

Absolute deal-breaker for me. As of 2024, there’s no reason why a family vehicle cannot be a hybrid.

The V6's smooth power delivery isn't great, but it's worth it. Any day I will take performance over a few MPG.
