Is the Kia Ceed's interior cheap compared with its rivals?

For daily drivers, the interior quality of a car can be a make or break to ownership. Kia’s position with the Ceed, as a value-for-money option, is often under fire for its interior materials and build quality. Others say that Kia has come a long way in their interiors, and can rival those of more expensive brands. The Ceed's cabin is still functional, but according to some, it's a notch below the European competition. This perception is a factor of the way the plastics feel, dashboard design, switchgear quality, and how well everything is put together. And then there's the question of how the interior age – do the materials wear well, or do they start to look tatty after a few years of use?

The interior of my Ceed was a pleasant surprise. It is not luxury, but whatever it is, it feels solid and well put together.

But better than my old Golf, at least, when it comes to feeling a bit plasticky inside.

For the price point, it’s decent, but if you look closely you can tell where they’ve cut costs.

The newer models have really come a long way. In many ways my 2021 Ceed feels premium.

It isn't cheap, but it's not special. The word functional is how I would use it.

Some materials aren't exactly top notch, but the design is actually quite nice.

My Ceed interior has held up really well after 3 years. No rattles or wear spots.
