Can Kia Clavis match Tata Punch’s safety reputation?
While the compact SUV segment in India has been focusing on safety with the Tata Punch achieving a 5 star Global NCAP safety rating, the segment has seen a lack of options that are BS6 compliant. With the Clavis set to launch into this crowded space, there is much curiosity about how it will stack up on the safety front. Tata has made safety a key part of its brand identity, while Kia has a reputation for building well built vehicles. This is a Clavis, and it is expected to come with six airbags and ADAS, but will that be enough to challenge the Punch's well established safety credentials? The question is, can Kia keep up with or surpass Tata's safety standards, and how much will safety ratings matter to buyers considering these two vehicles against one another?
Tata's got a real head start in the safety game. To compete, Kia is going to have to go above and beyond.
I think Kia has a shot. Lately, they've been really putting a lot of emphasis on safety features, and the Clavis might surprise us.
It's not about one set of features vs another, it's about the actual crash performance. It won't be for certain until we test the Clavis.
Safety is important, but the fact is that most buyers are more concerned about looks and features. On those fronts, the Clavis might even win.
If Kia comes close to matching the safety and can do better tech, they have a winner. The Punch is great, but it’s a pretty basic punch in some areas.
I’m just happy to see brands competing on safety. This wouldn’t even have been a discussion for cars in this segment a few years ago.
If they want to be taken seriously, the Clavis needs to nail the safety aspect. Buyers are getting more safety conscious in India.
