Discussions and Questions - Skoda Skoda
Is the Skoda Octavia a 'dad car' or can you be cool in one?
07 January 2025 05:33
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a dad car, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be cool. It’s cool because it’s practical and fun to drive at the same time.
Is the Skoda Octavia’s infotainment system a deal breaker?
07 January 2025 05:33
This is my kind of car in a nutshell, so it’s my biggest gripe with the car. The previous gen is where Skoda really dropped the ball on this one.
Does the Skoda Octavia deserve its reputation for reliability?
07 January 2025 05:33
If you keep it, it deserves the reputation. You don’t want to skimp on services because that’s asking for trouble.
Is the resale value of a Skoda Octavia a concern?
07 January 2025 05:33
I was worried about this but after 3 years mine is worth more than I expected. It's weird in the market right now though.
Is the Skoda Octavia DSG gearbox a time bomb waiting to go off?
07 January 2025 05:33
It's definitely a concern. On my 2014 model, I had to shell out big bucks for a DSG repair. If you’re buying used, then you also need to factor in the potential repair costs.
Does the European styling and driving dynamics of the Skoda Kylaq excuse its premium over more feature loaded rivals?
07 January 2025 05:29
If you are going to keep the car for a long time, I would say it’s worth it. The feature laden but less refined alternative will probably age less gracefully than the build quality and driving experience.
The first question is will the 1.0 TSI engine of the Skoda Kylaq be enough for Indian driving conditions or will the buyers miss a more powerful option.
07 January 2025 05:29
In fact, I like the 1.0 TSI better. Driving a slow car fast is more fun than driving a fast car slow, and the Kylaq with this engine is plenty zippy for most situations.
Do you get what you pay for in the Skoda Kylaq’s interior?
07 January 2025 05:29
I disagree. I went to the showroom and checked it out and it's nice to look at but there is still a lot of hard plastic. At the price they're asking, I expected more. In cheaper options like the Hyundai Venue or Kia Sonet you can get similar quality.
Will India miss Skoda Kylaq’s diesel engine option?
07 January 2025 05:29
It won't be a big issue, I don't think. The TSI engine in the Kylaq is pretty good for a petrol engine; they've come a long way in terms of efficiency. It’s not as though most people buying in this segment are desperate for a diesel.
What are the chances of the Skoda Kylaq matching Maruti and Hyundai in after sales service?
07 January 2025 05:29
It’s getting there, but let’s face it, it’s going to take years for them to build the kind of trust and network that Maruti and Hyundai have. Service concerns will hold back the Kylaq, though it might be great.
Let’s compare the Kushaq’s infotainment system with that of rivals like Creta and Seltos.
07 January 2025 05:16
It’s not overly complicated, which I actually like. It’s easy to get distracted by too many features. The system in the Kushaq offers me what I need without drowning me in options I will never use.
Is the premium the Kushaq commands over its rivals worth it for its build quality and long term reliability?
07 January 2025 05:16
I’m not sure it depends on your priorities. The Kushaq is an excellent car if you want one that feels premium and enjoy driving. If, however, peace of mind and low running costs are your priorities, then look elsewhere.
With the launch of the Kylaq, is the Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI becoming obsolete?
07 January 2025 05:16
Skoda is not obsolete; they just need to do more. Perhaps, cut back some features or bring the price down a little, to keep up with the competition. The Kylaq are really putting some pressure on them.
On Indian roads, how does the Kushaq ride quality compare to its competitors?
07 January 2025 05:16
The ride is fine, but I would have liked for Skoda to have tuned it a bit softer for India. It's sometimes like they just copied the European setup without taking our roads into account.
Are the AC cooling issues reported on the Kushaq a dealbreaker?
07 January 2025 05:16
I know this because I live in Chennai and it just doesn't have the AC to handle really hot days. Neither is it a dealbreaker for me, but it's definitely an area Skoda needs to improve.
With the car's size and weight, how does the Kodiaq's 1.5 TSI engine cope?
06 January 2025 10:46
I believe it’s fine for most people’s purposes. It’s not going to win any drag races, sure, but how often do you actually need to push your family SUV to the limit?
How user friendly is the Kodiaq's infotainment system?
06 January 2025 10:46
The wireless charging pad has given me trouble: it’s very finicky on how it likes the phone to be placed. Apart from that, no big complaints. For my purposes, it's user friendly enough.
Does the third row of the Skoda Kodiaq really offer usable space?
06 January 2025 10:46
I really think that's more of an emergency option. In the two years that I have had the Kodiaq, I’ve only used it a handful of times. It's nice to have, but I wouldn't buy it for the third row.
Is the Skoda Kodiaq a premium worth the extra outlay over mainstream SUVs?
06 January 2025 10:46
I believe people underestimate the power of good engineering. The chassis tuning and overall driving experience is a cut above a mainstream option, and while the Kodiaq lacks the bells and whistles of a luxury SUV, it’s the best of those mainstream models.
Can we rely on the Skoda Kodiaq to survive the long haul?
06 January 2025 10:46
I was worried about reliability — I had come from Japanese cars. After 50,000 km, though, I was pleasantly surprised. It's solid and well built. But make sure you find a good Skoda specialist for servicing.
