Is the resale value of a Skoda Octavia a concern?
For many car buyers resale value is a big factor and the Skoda Octavia has been a subject of discussion in this regard. Over the years, Skoda has done much to improve its brand image, but it still doesn’t fetch the same resale values as some of its more prestigious rivals. All these factors; the car’s popularity, its reputation of being reliable and the rate of decay of its value determines how well does the Octavia hold its value over time. This question analyses whether consumers are put off by lower resale values; whether Octavia’s initial purchase price outweighs the potential for lower values; whether it fares worse against the competition in terms of depreciation and whether certain models or specification retain or store their value better than others.
The lower purchase price kind of balances out it's not great. Upfront you save, but a little less later on.
The vRS models retain their value pretty well. Not so much regular versions.
The previous owner took the depreciation hit on mine, so I bought it used. Great value that way.
It's worse than a VW Golf, but better than a lot of other brands. Middle of the pack, really.
Who cares about resale? Buy it, drive it, enjoy it. It's not an investment.
Diesels seem to hold value better, but the estate versions do. Always in demand.
I was worried about this but after 3 years mine is worth more than I expected. It's weird in the market right now though.
