Is the premium the Kushaq commands over its rivals worth it for its build quality and long term reliability?

The Kushaq is a premium offering in the compact SUV segment, and sometimes costs more than some of its rivals. Part of the justification for this pricing strategy is the assertion of build quality and European engineering beyond what the domestic American competition can offer. But this has given rise to debate among Indian consumers over whether the premium is genuinely warranted, given Skoda’s past reputation for high maintenance costs in India. But some owners are convinced by the solid feel and driving dynamics of the Kushaq and say it's worth paying more for a car that feels built to last. Others are questioning if the real world reliability and after sales experience is able to live up to the premium positioning, especially when compared to more established players in the Indian market. This is a topic that often becomes a discussion on the perceived value of quality versus long term ownership costs and whether European brands have really adapted to Indian market conditions and expectations.

Absolutely worth it. Compared to its rivals, the Kushaq feels so much more solid. It’s really noticeable in the build quality, especially on highways.

I'm not convinced. It's sure well built, but I've heard horror stories about spare part costs and service issues. It's not just the initial cost that is the premium.

It's a mixed bag. Great build quality, although reliability is still unknown. They improved, but they are not at Maruti or Hyundai levels of reliability yet.

I love the driving experience for me. It just feels a more engaging car to drive than its rivals. If you are an enthusiast, that's worth paying extra for.

I’m not sure it depends on your priorities. The Kushaq is an excellent car if you want one that feels premium and enjoy driving. If, however, peace of mind and low running costs are your priorities, then look elsewhere.

Build quality is good, but I don’t think it’s 2-3 lakhs better than a Creta or Seltos. To really justify the premium, Skoda needs to up their after sales game.

But if you ask me, a year into owning the Kushaq, it’s worth it. It feels as solid as day one, so far no major issues. Service costs are higher than my previous Hyundai, but yeah.
