The lower purchase price kind of balances out it's not great. Upfront you save, but a little less later on.

The vRS models retain their value pretty well. Not so much regular versions.

The previous owner took the depreciation hit on mine, so I bought it used. Great value that way.

It's worse than a VW Golf, but better than a lot of other brands. Middle of the pack, really.

Diesels seem to hold value better, but the estate versions do. Always in demand.

I have driven my 2018 Octavia for 75k km and no DSG issues. Do the maintenance and you'll be fine.
Is the Skoda Octavia DSG gearbox a time bomb waiting to go off?
07 January 2025 05:33
It's definitely a concern. On my 2014 model, I had to shell out big bucks for a DSG repair. If you’re buying used, then you also need to factor in the potential repair costs.

The newer wet clutch DSGs are much more reliable. The main ones to worry about are the older DQ200 dry clutch ones.

I didn't even consider the DSG and went for the manual. One less thing to worry about and no regrets.
Does the European styling and driving dynamics of the Skoda Kylaq excuse its premium over more feature loaded rivals?
07 January 2025 05:29
Absolutely worth it. In a different league when it comes to driving dynamics, the Kylaq has little to fear from most rivals. When you're behind the wheel you can really feel the European engineering.
Does the European styling and driving dynamics of the Skoda Kylaq excuse its premium over more feature loaded rivals?
07 January 2025 05:29
I disagree. For most buyers in India, features matter more than the driving dynamics. So, why spend more money on a Kylaq when you can buy a fully loaded Venue or Sonet for the same amount?
Does the European styling and driving dynamics of the Skoda Kylaq excuse its premium over more feature loaded rivals?
07 January 2025 05:29
It's a tough call. It is definitely more premium in feel but it's very hard to justify the price when you can see how much feature list you are getting in something like a Kia Sonet top variant.
Does the European styling and driving dynamics of the Skoda Kylaq excuse its premium over more feature loaded rivals?
07 January 2025 05:29
For enthusiasts, yes. Probably not for the average buyer. Whether you want driving experience or features, it really depends.
Does the European styling and driving dynamics of the Skoda Kylaq excuse its premium over more feature loaded rivals?
07 January 2025 05:29
I feel like people underestimate the importance of good driving dynamics in day to day use. The Kylaq will have fewer features, but it’ll be more fun to drive every day.
