With the launch of the Kylaq, is the Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI becoming obsolete?
The launch of the Skoda Kylaq in India has created quite a furore in the Indian car market. Several are wondering if the Kushaq 1.0 TSI with similar features and the competitive pricing is still relevant. Taking a closer look, the Kylaq appears to provide similar space, performance and features at a lower cost, and this has left a few Kushaq owners worried about their car’s residual value. But others say the Kushaq still has a market, with its more premium feel and established brand. This situation forces a rethink on product positioning, value for money and the pace with which the compact SUV segment is evolving in India. A topic that’s causing a lot of chatter amongst car enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.
The Kushaq is not obsolete in any way! Still the better built, more premium feel of the whole package still makes it a solid choice. The Kylaq might be cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
I feel the Kushaq 1.0 is most certainly on unstable ground now. Why should you pay more for essentially the same car? Skoda really need to think again about their pricing strategy.
Skoda is not obsolete; they just need to do more. Perhaps, cut back some features or bring the price down a little, to keep up with the competition. The Kylaq are really putting some pressure on them.
It honestly depends, I believe. That European car feel is still there in the Kushaq, something that people still really want. Price and features aren’t the only things.
Now as a Kushaq owner I am a bit worried about resale value. I love my car and it still offers something the Kylaq can’t match when it comes to driving experience.
The Kushaq has been around longer, proven itself, and we cannot forget that. We still don't know how reliable the Kylaq is going to be in the long term.
I don’t think it’s too harsh to call it obsolete. However, the Kushaq still has its place, but it’ll need some changes as Skoda faces this new competition.
