With the car's size and weight, how does the Kodiaq's 1.5 TSI engine cope?

It's the introduction of the 1.5 TSI engine option in the Skoda Kodiaq that has sparked debate as to whether it is appropriate for a vehicle of this size and weight. It replaces the previous 2.0 liter option in some markets, and questions loom about performance, fuel efficiency, and long term durability. Advocates say that modern turbocharging technology makes it possible to provide adequate power with smaller engines, without sacrificing fuel economy. However, critics are worried that the engine will be underpowered, particularly when the car is full or operating in demanding driving situations. Real world fuel consumption, acceleration, and highway performance are frequently debated, as is the engine's ability to withstand being asked to drive a larger vehicle over the long haul. This is a topic that often splits opinion between those who favour efficiency and those who prefer the 'old' way of having larger engines for larger vehicles.

At first I was skeptical, but the 1.5 TSI does a decent job. It's no rocket, but it'll get you about town and on the highway with ease.
