Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha Xabre 150 presents an appealing option in the 150cc naked sports segment, blending style, performance, and quality components. But, The Yamaha FZ series, especially the FZS-FI V4, is an excellent choice for riders prioritizing comfort, reliability, and ease of use in urban environments. It's well-suited for daily commuters and those new to motorcycling. However, riders seeking more performance or better value-for-money may want to consider other options in the 150-160cc segment. The FZ remains a solid, if somewhat conservative, choice in its class.

The bike uses a 149cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine producing 16 HP and 14.3 Nm of torque. The six speed gearbox on the motorcycle makes it quite interesting while its light 135 kg of body weight makes it quicker than most rivals. Yamaha Xabre 150 Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Yamaha Xabre 150 was the first motorcycle I saw and I was immediately taken by its aggressive body language and sporty design. Imported to India in 2022, this motorcycle is Yamaha's response to the increasing consumer preference for fashionable bang for a buck in the 150cc motorcycle category. The bike, however, has received attention as the M-Slaz in other countries primarily for its design, performance and price. I was in particular anxious to find out how it fairs in the Indian motorcycle market which is well known for its levels of competition and consumer demand.
Design and Aesthetics
The Yamaha Xabre 150 is a treat for any consumers who appreciate great bike aesthetics. The bike's Fairing has bold curves and sharp symmetry that evokes great motorcycles from the Yamaha range like the YZF-R6. The motorcycle has what appears to be a dragonfly like headlamp cluster with LED bulb that not only aids in visibility but is attractive as well. There was a new shape of fuel tank with extended shrouds and a lower tail section that added sportiness to an already brilliant machine.
The frame used on Xabre 150 is a lightweight Deltabox which helps in rolling the vehicle as well as balancing it. Quest for class is emphasized by features like the aluminum swing arm and alloy wheels. The seat is a complete unit type suitable for both the rider and the pillion. Primarily it matches all the expectations in terms of performance as well as looks, thus, it is an attractive product in the 150 cc segment.
Performance and Powertrain
The Yamaha Xabre 150 gets a 149 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that develops a maximum power of 16.09 BHP at 8500 RPM and a peak torque of 14.3 Nm at 7500 RPM. The engine features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) which enhances power delivery and efficiency. The 6-speed manual transmission is favorable for collar shifts as well.
In my test ride, I felt the Xabre 150 was zippy and thrilling and fell right at home zipping through city traffic or on a weekend joyrides. The fact that the bike can reach a maximum speed of130 km/h is good absolute even for tawny level motorcycle, reinforced further with a dual disc braking system which is faster, and tubeless tires assist in effectiveness. The suspension system with upside down front forks combined with a preload adjustable rear mono-shock is good and performs well on bumpy roads where the bumping effects are high too.
Features and Technology
Apart from performance and aesthetics, the Yamaha Xabre 150 is also equipped with some of the more modern features. The bike is also equipped with a multi-function LCD instrument console to display all measurements at one place. The gas controlled engine of the bike is very smooth because of the particularities behind the electronic fuel injecting process that easily helps any rider to concentrate on their riding experience.
One of such factors is the dual channel ABS which increases the braking power of the machine. Additionally, it features a side stand engine cut off switch which fends off unauthorized use of the machine. LED headlamps and taillights not only increase the safety of the rider but also enhance the aesthetics of the machine. Such leading aspects makes the technology of Xabre 150 more advanced than the motorcycles in the same category.
Variants
The Yamaha Xabre 150 is offered in several bold colors such as Gunmetal Katana, Silver with White, Red and Black. The difference only exists in the physical appearance of the machines given that they offer the same functional capability and features. To my view, the Gunmetal Katana variant is the most appealing as it has a safe design that can appeal to even the most elegant person at the best price though it is quite expensive.
Market Position and Pricing
Positioned at a price of approximately INR 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) a Yamaha Xabre 150 falls into the premium range in the 150cc segment. This forces this bike to compete in the price category of bikes such as Honda CB150R Streetfire and Suzuki GSX-S150. Nonetheless, given the level of competition, the composition of art, performance and installation of additional features on the Xabre 150 creates a strong case for buyers who wish to have such a motorcycle.
Target Audience
Yamaha Xabre 150 Target market includes young riders as well as urban professionals seeking passion and performance. Its sporty appearance and cutting-edge features make it difficult for a person to ride a simple motorcycle. Furthermore, it can easily be used on a daily basis and for weekend trips due to its fast and good, fuel efficient engine and comfortable seating position. In my opinion, Xabre 150 is best suited for college going students and young executive who are in search of a practical yet exotic form of commuting.
Value for Money
Yamaha Xabre 150 is a motorcycle that has great value for money. It is reasonably priced with a number of features provided that are standard in more advanced models and it is appropriate within the 150cc class. The sturdy nature of the motorcycle and its overall performance also serve to guarantee that the customers enjoy even more returns on their investment.
Mileage and Fuel Efficiency
The Yamaha Xabre 150 gives plenty of napkin mileage which is between 35 to 45 kilometers per liters depending on the riding conditions. This is definitely an efficient figure for a bike that looks this sporty. This is quite sufficient especially for urban use and the longer journeys too making it a very comfortable use as the fuel tank capacity stands at 10.2 liters. It wouldn't be wrong to say that in terms of fuel efficiency and fuel tank capacity, the Xabre 150 does its job and the practicality does not lose sight of performance.
Competitors and Comparison
When it comes to the competitive 150cc category, the Yamaha Xabre 150 competes with the likes of the Honda CB150R Streetfire and the Suzuki GSX-S150. Although, the Honda provides a more sophisticated engine, the Xabre 150 has characteristics of rugged looks with robust features such as VVA and Dual Channel ABS. The Suzuki GSX-S150, however, provides similar features in terms of performance but the design is nowhere close to the Xabre 150.
Basing on my observations, the Yamaha Xabre 150 is deficient as far as design and feature offerings are concerned and hence deserves to be in this class. But for the sake of those who are considering purchasing one, they have to know their priorities because all of the competitors have some particular advantages.
Conclusion
To summarize, we can say that Yamaha Xabre 150 is a good motorcycle in all the aspects as it combines style and performs well with the latest technologies too. As a new entrant, the motorcycle has provided a new choice to consumers in the sports category looking for a 150cc motorcycle that works reliably. Aggressive styling and a powerful engine along with the reasonable price of the Xabre 150 should help the motorcycle attract a lot of attention in this segment. Speaking as a reviewer, this is an appealing motorcycle for young people and those who live in the city and use a two-wheeler for daily commute and wish for a few other attributes from the motorcycle apart from comfortable riding.
