USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha Saluto Matt Green Disc is a commendable option in the 125cc commuter segment, especially for those prioritizing fuel efficiency and comfort. While it has been discontinued, its legacy remains strong. The bikes Blue Core Engine delivers a smooth and refined performance, making it ideal for daily commutes. The Unified Braking System (UBS) and the optional 245mm front disc brake enhance safety, which is a significant plus. However, some users have reported issues with mileage, often citing figures around 35-40 kmpl, which is lower than the advertised 78 kmpl. Additionally, the lack of skilled mechanics and spare parts availability can be a drawback. Despite these concerns, the Salutos comfortable seating, lightweight design, and good handling make it a solid choice for those seeking a reliable commuter bike.
Price
The Yamaha Saluto Matt Green Disc, although discontinued, was priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for this variant was around Rs 62,580. When considering the on-road price, which includes additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, it would have been approximately Rs 70,000 to Rs 75,000, depending on the state and local regulations. This pricing positioned the Saluto as a value-for-money option in its segment, offering a balance of performance, features, and economy.
Latest Updates
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 02:09 AM The Yamaha Saluto Matt Green Disc, although discontinued in November 2019, was notable for its Unified Braking System (UBS) which enhanced braking performance by applying the front brake partially when the rear brake was used. This feature was a significant safety upgrade. I think this technology was a step in the right direction for commuter bikes.
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 12:17 PM Despite its discontinuation, the Yamaha Saluto Matt Green Disc remains a popular choice among used bike buyers due to its reliability and fuel efficiency. The bikes maintenance costs are relatively low, which is a significant factor for many buyers in the commuter segment. I think its legacy continues to influence the market.
Wednesday, 14 September 2016 11:32 AM In September 2016, Yamaha introduced the Matt Green color variant for the Saluto 125, available in both disc and drum brake versions. This new color scheme was part of Yamahas effort to keep the model fresh and appealing to customers. The disc brake version was priced at Rs. 56,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi). I believe the Matt Green color added a stylish touch to the bike.
Wednesday, 14 September 2016 05:15 AM The Yamaha Saluto Matt Green Disc featured a 125cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve engine, part of Yamahas Blue Core Engine Development. This engine delivered 8.3 PS of power and 10.1 Nm of torque, making it efficient for daily commuting. The bike also boasted a fuel economy of 78 kmpl. I think the engines efficiency was one of its strongest points.

I think the design was a key selling point for this bike.
Wednesday, 14 September 2016 09:16 AM The Saluto Matt Green Disc was priced competitively, with the disc brake version costing Rs. 61,580. This pricing made it a strong contender in the commuter segment, competing against bikes like the Honda CB Shine and Hero Glamour. I believe the pricing strategy helped Yamaha attract a wide customer base.
Wednesday, 14 September 2016 09:11 AM The bike featured an analogue instrument console with a speedometer, fuel gauge, and odometer. While it lacked modern digital features, the simplicity of the console was appreciated by many users. However, some critics felt that the handlebar was positioned at an obstructing level, and vibrations could be felt at high rev ranges. I think the simplicity of the console was a double-edged sword.
Wednesday, 14 September 2016 07:48 PM The Yamaha Saluto Matt Green Disc had a kerb weight of 114 kg and a ground clearance of 180 mm, making it lightweight and easy to handle. While Yamaha claims a mileage of 78 kmpl, user reviews often report lower figures, typically ranging between 35-40 kmpl. This discrepancy can be a concern for buyers who prioritize fuel efficiency. Bought the vehicle 13 months back, low milage about 35-40 kmpl, bad customer care response, bad experience at the service center as no skilled mechanics present and even spares are not available. Took atleast 3-15 days to get service done of new vehicle.

Best Features: Vehicle look is decent and light weight. Good for city ride.
