It features a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with variable valve actuation, producing 19.3 PS of power at 10,000 rpm and 15 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha R15 V3 Matte Black is a significant improvement over its predecessors, and it clearly stands out as a top contender in the 150cc segment in India. My experience with this bike has been nothing short of impressive, especially on the track where its agility and stability shine. The engine, with its 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve configuration and variable valve actuation, delivers smooth and linear power, peaking at 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox, coupled with a slipper clutch, makes gear shifts seamless and reduces the risk of rear wheel hop during hard downshifts. However, the lack of ABS is a notable omission, and the MRF tyres, while adequate, can be improved upon, especially under hard braking. Despite these minor grievances, the R15 V3 is a joy to ride, offering a perfect blend of performance, handling, and comfort, making it a must-consider for enthusiasts.
Price
The Yamaha R15 V3 Matte Black is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price in Delhi is around Rs 1.25 lakh. However, the on-road price can vary depending on the state and local taxes, but you can expect it to be around Rs 1.45 lakh to Rs 1.55 lakh. This pricing makes it a compelling option given its performance and features. While it may seem a bit steep for some, the quality and engineering that Yamaha has put into this bike justify the cost. Additionally, optional upgrades like the Metzeler rear tyre and Daytona exhaust can add to the overall cost but enhance the riding experience significantly.
Latest Updates
Sunday, 01 September 2024 06:51 AM Consumer demand for specific colours can significantly influence sales. The absence of a Matte Black option for the R15 V4 has been noted by many potential buyers. I believe Yamaha should prioritize consumer preferences and consider adding this colour option to meet market demand.
Tuesday, 20 August 2024 01:55 PM There is ongoing speculation about future updates to the R15 V4 lineup. Given the current trend and consumer feedback, it is possible that Yamaha might introduce a Matte Black colour option in the near future. I think this would be a welcome move and would help in boosting sales.
Monday, 15 July 2024 01:01 PM In the Indian market, competitors like KTM and TVS offer a variety of colour options, including matte finishes. Yamahas decision to not include a Matte Black for the R15 V4 might put them at a disadvantage in terms of market trends. I believe Yamaha should keep an eye on market trends and adjust their colour options accordingly.
Monday, 10 June 2024 08:07 PM The prices for the 2024 R15 V4 range from Rs 1.82 lakh to Rs 1.87 lakh (ex-showroom), which is competitive in the market. However, the absence of a Matte Black option might affect the perceived value for some buyers who are looking for this specific colour. I think Yamaha needs to balance their pricing strategy with consumer demand for specific colours.
Wednesday, 01 May 2024 08:20 AM The R15 V4s design is highly praised for its sporty and aggressive look, but the lack of a Matte Black option limits the aesthetic choices for buyers. A matte black finish would complement the bikes sporty design and appeal to those who prefer a more understated yet sleek look. I believe this would enhance the overall appeal of the R15 V4.
Friday, 05 April 2024 04:50 PM Yamaha has mentioned that they conduct regular colour-related surveys to understand consumer preferences. Given the popularity of matte finishes, it is likely that there will be demand for a Matte Black R15 V4 in the future. I think its only a matter of time before Yamaha responds to this consumer feedback.
Monday, 11 March 2024 01:20 AM The absence of a Matte Black colour for the R15 V4 stands out when compared to other models in the Yamaha lineup, such as the FZ series, which has received new matte finish options. This disparity might influence buyer decisions, especially for those who prefer the sleek look of matte finishes. I believe Yamaha should consider aligning their colour options across different models.
Thursday, 15 February 2024 06:48 AM There has been speculation that Yamaha might introduce more colour options based on consumer feedback. While the current updates do not include a Matte Black for the R15 V4, there is a possibility that future updates could cater to this demand. I think it would be wise for Yamaha to consider adding a matte black option to appeal to a broader audience.
Tuesday, 09 January 2024 07:53 AM Yamaha has updated the 2024 R15 V4 with fresh colour options, including a new Vivid Magenta Metallic and enhanced Racing Blue and Metallic Red shades. However, there is no specific mention of a Matte Black colour for the R15 V4. The existing colours have received cosmetic upgrades with sportier body decals. The prices for these new colour schemes range from Rs 1.82 lakh to Rs 1.87 lakh (ex-showroom). I think these new colours will definitely appeal to the younger demographic.
Tuesday, 09 January 2024 10:26 PM Despite the updates to the 2024 Yamaha R15 V4, there is no Matte Black colour option available. The focus has been on introducing vibrant and sporty colours like Vivid Magenta Metallic and enhanced versions of Racing Blue and Metallic Red. This might be a missed opportunity for those who prefer a more subdued look. I believe a matte black finish would have been a great addition to the lineup.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 05:22 AM When it comes to mileage, the Yamaha R15 V3 is not designed to be a fuel-sipper but rather a performance-oriented bike. In real-world conditions, you can expect a mileage of around 35-40 kml, which is reasonable given its power output and sporty nature. On the track or during aggressive riding, this figure can drop to around 25-30 kml. However, for daily commuting, especially in city traffic, the bikes efficiency is still respectable. Its important to note that mileage can vary based on riding style, road conditions, and maintenance of the bike. Yamaha R15 V3 Matte Black Review

21 Dec, 2021 09:22 AM

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 Monster Energy Edition brought the matte black shade into existence for the Indian market. It was not officially launched but one can see how neat the motorcycle looks in the Indonesian spec black shade and green fairing highlights. Every panel on this motorcycle is studded with a green finished monster logo while side fairing gets additional Monster Energy branding. Those looking forward to this shade can get their existing bike wrapped in matte black as Yamaha may not introduce this shade as standard before festive season of 2018. Mechanically, the motorcycle stays exactly the same as its stock version.

R15 V3 is powered by an all-new 155.1cc, variable valve actuated engine producing 19.03 BHP at 10,000 rpm and 15 Nm at 8,500 rpm. This engine is the most powerful 150cc option in India as almost similar sized motor in Gixxer SF is good for just 14.6 BHP. Peak performance is mind-blowing as VVA helps rider enjoy the most impressive ride ever through equally effective low and high range. The stock version of Yamaha R15 V3 costs INR 1.25 lakh. The price difference of INR 6000 with R15 V2 gets justified with the addition of a slipper clutch, LED lights, all-digital console, bigger tyre and almost R1 inspired fuel tank.

Yamaha made this R15 V3 more practical by raising its ground clearance to 170mm. It claimed a much lower value in Indonesia. Top speed for R15 V3 is 136 kmph while optional accessories like Metzeler tyres, Daytona exhaust and much more makes it even highly effective against 200cc bikes of India. Stock shade options include Thunder Grey and Racing Blue in India. Yamaha R15 V3 comes with a track specific wheelbase of 1325 mm, helping the rider stay intact on sudden turns and high-speed cornering.
