Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 Special Edition is a standout in the 150cc sports bike segment in India, renowned for its exceptional handling and performance. This bike is a head-turner with its sleek design and vibrant color schemes, making it a favorite among enthusiasts. The riding position, although aggressive and more suited for younger riders, offers a thrilling experience. However, comfort is compromised, especially for long rides and pillion passengers. The bikes 150cc engine, while not impressive at low torque, comes alive above 5000-6000 rpm, delivering a smooth and powerful ride. With a 6-speed transmission and grippy MRF tyres, cornering is effortless. Despite some minor issues like visor vibration and loose mirrors, the overall build quality and performance make it a compelling choice for those seeking a sporty ride.
Price
The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 Special Edition was priced competitively in the Indian market. At the time of its launch, the ex-showroom price was around 118,000, which translated to an on-road price of approximately 130,000 to 140,000, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing made it an attractive option for buyers looking for a performance-oriented sports bike without breaking the bank. The value for money is evident in its build quality, performance, and features, making it a solid choice for enthusiasts on a moderate budget.

I had Yamaha R15 V1. It is running around one lakh 45 thousands km according to the calculation of 2nd speedometer and complete 13 years, and still in perfect condition. I touched 145 at long stretch highway. Am the first owner, it was dream sports bike at that time. And many more km to clock on it. It was a best motorcycle in motorcycle history. Yamaha is always my favorite brand. Because my father had rx100 Rajdoot edition it's was completed 47 years still in condition and one kick start. I wish again R15 V1 model launch in market with more power, more modern technology with high cc engine.

Some people says that this bike has poor mileage and high maintenance. Yamaha has given everything that one can expect in a 150cc bike. It will cost more because you get fuel injection, 6 gears, deltabox frame, liquid cooled engine and much more than standard 150cc bikes.

Best Features: High & Low end Torque, Responsive yet Refined engine

Pros: Best in class build quality, performance

Cons: Headlight, Pillion seat

Initial pick up is great but the end performance is not up to mark. The only drawback is the headlight which is attractive but not effective during the night. It is an eye-catcher on the road.

Best Features: Aerodynamic and low end torque!!

Pros: Low end torque, aerodynamic fairing and built quality.

Cons: Not comfortable, worst headlights

Yamaha R15 is best product that your money can buy

I was confused between RS200 and R15. Then took test drive of both bikes. RS 200 is very comfortable in sitting and seat comfort. The only downside of this bike is engine reliability and harshness. Front visor of RS200 starts rattling after sometime which is very annoying.

Best Features: No vibrations at all throughout the rev range

Pros: Styling, engine refinement

Cons: Rear seat is a challenge for pillion rider
