The Euro-5-compliant version was unveiled globally in December 2021. The faired bike costs JPY 453,200 (approximately Rs 2.71 lakh) in Japan, while the naked version costs JPY 420,200. (about Rs 2.51 lakh).

The two bikes are powered by a 124cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 15 PS and 11 Nm and mated to a 6-speed transmission. Except for the cleaner engine, the bikes are mechanically identical to previous versions.

In comparison, the KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 produce 14.5 PS and 12 Nm, respectively. More importantly, the GSX-R125 (at 137kg kerb) is 23kg lighter than the KTM RC 125, and the GSX-S125 (at 135kg kerb) is 24kg lighter. This should result in a higher power-to-weight ratio.

A fully digital instrument cluster, Suzuki Easy Start System, hazard lights, a key slot with shutter, and dual-channel ABS are among the notable features of the machines. We wish Suzuki had included smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, as it does on its 125cc scooters such as the Suzuki Access 125 and the Burgman Street.

Suzuki is unlikely to introduce 125cc motorcycles in India. If you want a premium 125cc motorcycle, you can choose between the KTM 125 Duke and the RC 125. However, more powerful options include the Yamaha MT-15 and the R15 V4.
