Yamaha M-SLAZ 150 Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Yamaha M-Slaz is a naked alternative to Yamaha R15 V2 in India. As it shares the old engine, it would be wrong calling it a naked cousin to R15 Version 3.0. Effectively, M-Slaz comes with a head-turning design that is very aggressive and strictly for short street specific rides. The fuel tank is compact while tank extensions are sharp and really impressive. Both the rider's as well as the pillion's seat is smaller than usual, facilitating riders with medium built more than anyone else. It shares the delta-box frame with R15 and thus, handling on track is quite aggressive in comparison to segment rivals.
The front comes with USD forks while the rear uses a mono-shock on Yamaha M-Slaz. It uses LED front light, enclosed perfectly between a compact headlight setup. India spec Yamaha FZ25 has similar facial expressions but comes with a bigger headlight. M-Slaz is powered by 149cc, single cylinder engine producing 16.09 BHP at 8500 rpm and 14.3 Nm at 7500 rpm. This engine is presently on offer with same fuel injected and liquid cooled setup in R15 V2. The India spec engine is more powerful at 16.8 BHP and 15 Nm of torque.
This has to be done due to the added weight of the fairing. Premium 150cc segment in India is completely under Yamaha R15 as the only top of the line Suzuki Gixxer SF is available for a price more than INR 1 lakh. Honda has discontinued CBR150R and thus, it would be a great chance for Yamaha to plan localization of M-Slaz with a 155cc engine. They can share the frame and engine while body parts in use can be the same as those seen on present generation M-Slaz.
