Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha FZS FI V4 is a compelling option in the 150cc motorcycle segment in India, offering a balanced blend of performance, fuel efficiency, and comfort. From my experience, this bike excels in its handling and braking, with the 282mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes providing a progressive and strong braking response. The suspension, though tuned for sporty handling, can be a bit firm, which may not appeal to everyone but certainly enhances the bikes agility and maneuverability in traffic. The addition of features like full-LED lighting, a revised instrument cluster, and traction control system makes it a modern and safe ride. However, the lack of a dual-channel ABS and some compromises in comfort due to the firm suspension are notable drawbacks. Overall, its a great choice for those seeking a refined city ride with good fuel economy and sporty handling.
Price
The Yamaha FZS FI V4 is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for this model starts around Rs. 1.35 lakh, though it can vary slightly depending on the region and any additional features or variants. On-road prices, including registration, insurance, and other costs, typically range from Rs. 1.55 lakh to Rs. 1.65 lakh. Given the features and performance it offers, the price seems justified, especially when compared to other bikes in the same segment. However, the additional cost over the previous version, around Rs. 14,000, might be a consideration for budget-conscious buyers.

Yamaha FZS Rear Disc Review

21 Dec, 2021 07:19 AM

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Yamaha FZS was launched with a rear disc in India for INR 86,042. This results in a price difference of INR 3000 with regular shades, all of them being offered with single front disc brake. Armada Blue is exclusive to the rear disc variant while standard shades include Darknight, Hurricane Gray, Lightening Cyan, Knight Red and Opal White. Apart from using a rear 220mm disc brake, Yamaha offers bigger 282mm front disc and new alloy wheel design on the rear disc model. All the changes have resulted in 1 kg of weight gain, still keeping Yamaha FZ-S lighter by a huge margin from segment rivals.

Yamaha FZ-S is powered by a single cylinder, 149cc fuel injected engine, producing 13.2 PS at 8000 rpm and 12.8 Nm at 6000 rpm. The refined unit is good for around 45 kmpl of mileage on the regular city as well as highway use while extensive fifth gear riding on a highway can take this figure closer to 50 kmpl. It only comes with an electric starter and offers 12 liters of fuel carrying capacity. Seat height of 790 mm in good for grounded feel while riding in heavy traffic but the slightly wider seat will make it difficult for riders below 5 feet 6 inch to place both feet down together.

The bike measures 2060 mm in length, 770 mm in width and 1050 mm in height. FZ-S comes with 160 mm ground clearance (unladen) and 1330 mm of decent wheelbase. Front 41mm telescopic forks from FZ-S are shared with bigger FZ25 while disc brake size on FZ-S rear disc is also similar. SIngle disc variants are available with a smaller 267 mm front disc. Front tyre measures 100/80-17 while the rear is massive 140/60-17. The setup offers impressive grip levels while speeding and racing hard on corners.
