Brevard County is recovering from Hurricane Milton, which brought strong winds, flooding, and power outages. A probable tornado touched down in Cocoa Beach, damaging homes and buildings, but fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries reported. Cleanup efforts are underway, and storm shelters have been closed.

Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key as a Category 3 hurricane and later downgraded to a tropical storm warning by the time it reached Brevard County. The storm caused significant damage, including the destruction of several homes and businesses in Cocoa Beach. I believe the quick response from emergency services helped mitigate the damage.

Port Canaveral is assessing its shipping channel for debris and shoaling after Hurricane Milton, which has impacted cruise ship schedules. Several cruise ships, including the MSC Seashore, Carnival Glory, and Royal Caribbean ships, have had their schedules affected. The ports landside operations have reopened, but the waterside operations remain closed until further assessment.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey reported that over 92,000 homes were without power due to Hurricane Milton, with the number potentially rising. Despite significant street flooding and building damage, there was no widespread major damage reported. I think the sheriffs office did a great job in managing the crisis.
