The Kawasaki Z300 is a naked sport motorcycle powered by a 296cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 39PS at 11,000 rpm and 26 Nm torque at 10,000 rpm, paired with a smooth 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. Launched originally in India in 2013 and updated minimally for 2025 with cosmetic tweaks like a larger windscreen and projector headlamp, it retains its old-school charm with a lightweight chassis and balanced handling ideal for urban and highway use. The bike has a kerb weight of about 179 kg, a 17-litre fuel tank, and a comparatively low seat height of 780 mm, making it accessible for a wide range of riders. Its ride quality benefits from compliant suspension that absorbs bumps well, comfortable ergonomics, and stable braking with standard ABS. Despite lacking some modern digital features and trailing newer rivals in outright performance, the Z300 remains a distinctive option for those seeking a reliable, stylish, and manageable middleweight naked bike in India.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Kawasaki Z300 stands out as a refined and reliable choice for riders seeking a balance between performance and comfort in the Indian market. Its 296cc parallel-twin engine delivers smooth power, making it easy to handle in city traffic and enjoyable on highways. The riding position is relaxed, with a slightly upright stance that reduces fatigue on long rides. Build quality is impressive, with attention to detail in the fit and finish, and the overall package feels robust. The suspension setup is well-tuned for Indian roads, absorbing bumps without feeling harsh. While the engine is more top-end focused, it remains flexible enough for daily commuting. The Z300 is beginner-friendly, forgiving, and offers a comfortable experience for both new and experienced riders. It’s a solid pick for those who want a versatile, easy-to-ride motorcycle that doesn’t compromise on style or reliability.

The Kawasaki Z300 remains a compelling option in the 300cc segment in India mainly due to its refined parallel-twin 296cc engine that delivers a lively 39PS while encouraging high-rev riding. Its balanced chassis and stable handling make it approachable for both beginners and experienced riders who enjoy spirited rides but prefer a bike that’s forgiving and confidence-inspiring in city and highway conditions. Though it lacks some modern features and slightly lags behind newer 300-400cc rivals in outright speed and braking performance, its comfortable riding posture, slipper clutch, and overall fit and finish ensure it is a practical all-rounder. The 2025 model update with cosmetic changes like a larger windscreen and revised tyres has helped maintain its appeal. It is ideal for riders prioritizing a classic sportbike experience with a reliable, well-mannered twin-cylinder engine rather than outright technological advancements or raw power dominance.

Recent news and announcements

Kawasaki recently announced a Rs 10,000 discount on the 2024 Kawasaki Ninja 300 in India, making it more competitive in the market. This move is likely to boost sales and attract more buyers. I believe this discount will make the bike more appealing to potential buyers.

The 2025 Kawasaki Ninja 300 has been updated with two new color schemes for the Indian market. The new colors include a vibrant candy lime green and a more subdued metallic moondust gray. These new colors will be sold alongside the existing lime green option. The mechanical specifications remain unchanged, with the bike still powered by a 296cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine producing 38.88bhp and 26.1Nm of peak torque. The price remains the same at Rs. 3.43 lakh (ex-showroom). I think these new colors will definitely attract more buyers looking for a stylish sportbike.

The 2024 Kawasaki Ninja 300 has been launched in India with new colors, including Candy Lime Green and Metallic Moondust Grey. The bike retains its classic design but lacks modern features like Bluetooth connectivity and traction control. It is priced at Rs 3.43 lakh, ex-showroom. I think the new colors are a nice touch, but the lack of modern features might be a turnoff for some buyers.

Kawasaki has confirmed that the 2025 Ninja 300 will retain its current mechanical specifications, including the 296cc engine and six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. This decision ensures that the bike continues to offer a balance of performance and manageability, making it a great option for both new and experienced riders. The bikes lightweight frame and accessible seat height of 780mm also contribute to its appeal. I believe this consistency in performance will keep the Ninja 300 a favorite among sportbike enthusiasts.

The 2025 Kawasaki Ninja 300 features an updated instrument cluster with a digital display, providing essential information such as speed, gear position, and fuel level in a clear and easy-to-read format. Additionally, the bike includes LED lighting, which enhances visibility and adds a modern touch to its overall look. Safety is also a priority, with ABS coming as standard. This combination of technology and safety features makes the Ninja 300 a solid choice for daily commuting and weekend adventures. I think the updated instrument cluster is a nice touch, making the bike more user-friendly.

Price

Pricing details and changes

The Kawasaki Z300 is priced competitively in India, with the ex-showroom price starting around ₹3.43 lakh. On-road prices vary depending on the city and state, typically ranging between ₹3.8 lakh to ₹4.1 lakh, factoring in registration, insurance, and other local charges. Compared to rivals like the KTM 390 Duke and Yamaha MT-03, the Z300 sits at a premium, but it justifies the cost with its superior build quality, smooth engine, and comfortable ergonomics. The price reflects Kawasaki’s reputation for reliability and after-sales service, which adds long-term value. For buyers prioritising comfort, ease of use, and a refined ride, the Z300’s pricing is reasonable, especially for those who plan to keep the bike for several years. The cost of ownership is also manageable, with parts and service widely available across major cities.
December 4, 2025
The Kawasaki Z300 is priced at around Rs 3.43 lakh ex-showroom in India for the 2025 model year. On-road costs, including insurance, road tax, and registration, will push the total price closer to Rs 3.75 to 3.85 lakh depending on the city. This puts it in direct competition with other entry-level sports bikes like the KTM RC 390, Yamaha YZF R3, and Aprilia RS 457. While newer rivals may offer more power or modern features at similar price points, the Z300’s mechanical reliability, balanced ride, and brand legacy justify the premium for enthusiasts who want a twin-cylinder experience. The slightly higher price may discourage purely budget-conscious buyers but reflects Kawasaki’s positioning of the Z300 as a well-built, beginner-friendly machine with decent kit and refinement in a growing Indian middleweight sportsbike market.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

The Kawasaki Z300 delivers a real-world mileage of around 20-22 kmpl in mixed riding conditions, which is decent for a 300cc twin-cylinder motorcycle in India. This makes it a practical choice for daily commuting and occasional long rides, with running costs that are manageable for most riders. The engine’s efficiency, combined with a 17-litre fuel tank, ensures fewer refuelling stops and lower fuel expenses over time. For buyers concerned about mileage and running costs, the Z300 offers a good balance between performance and economy, making it a sensible option in its segment.
December 4, 2025
In India, expect the Kawasaki Z300 to deliver mileage in the range of 20–27 kmpl depending on riding style and conditions. The liquid-cooled parallel-twin favors higher revs for good performance, which can reduce efficiency in city stop-and-go traffic but still returns respectable numbers on highways. Considering running costs, the Z300’s fuel efficiency is reasonable for a performance-oriented bike and can suit riders balancing spirited riding with manageable fuel expenses.
