Kawasaki Vulcan S Review

18 Jan, 2019 10:59 AM

The first ever cruiser motorcycle from Kawasaki to be launched in India, Vulcan S has been successful in breaking the stereotypes. With an individualistic design, the middleweight cruiser is powered by a 649 cc at its heart. The Kawasaki Vulcan S is known to offer a smooth performance just like the Kawasaki Ninja 650, considering the borrowed engine. It competes in the market with the likes of Harley Davidson Street 750 and Hyosung Aquila Pro in its segment.

Powering the Kawasaki Vulcan S is a 649 cc, Four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four valves per cylinder, parallel twin engine capable of producing a maximum power of 61 Bhp @ 7500 rpm and an utmost torque of 63 Nm @ 6600 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The curved flowing distinctive design does justice to its unconventional cruiser appeal while the fuel tank though bulky looks sleeker from the sides. The lower saddle height gives it an authentic low stance in order to offer a better ride quality while the Inverted triangle headlamp design looks innovative.

The suspension duties are handled by 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and Lay-down offset rear shock with linkage and 7-way adjustable preload at the rear. The Kawasaki Vulcan s gets a Single 300mm disc with a twin-piston caliper at the front while the rear gets a Single 250mm disc with single-piston caliper. The bike is equipped with dual channel ABS for additional safety on every terrain while braking. The ground clearance of 130 mm is sufficient to handle the road well as well as balance on sharp corners. The claimed top speed of the cruiser is 168 kmph. The instrument console offers a good amount of necessary information and complements the style well.  Though the pillion grab handlebars look rather odd in style with such a larger size.

The Kawasaki Vulcan S is known to cover 0-100kmph  in just a duration of 6.37 seconds and has a fuel economy of 18kmpl in city and 24.3kmpl on the highway. It is available in the market in three stunning shades- Green, Black and Orange.
