Honda Dio (Old Model)

The Honda Dio offers a stylish design with unique body graphics and dual-tone paint schemes. This helps Honda, target the Dio towards a more younger audience. The trendy design, along with the powerful 109cc engine has made it popular among the young college-going audience. Honda offers the Dio with an affordable price tag, making it all the more likeable.

The 110cc scooter, the Dio, was recently modified by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India to meet the BS6 (new) emission standards. The BS4 (old) model will also be offered for purchase up until March 31, 2020, the deadline to comply with the new emission standards, or while supplies last. 

In 2020, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India updated the Dio to comply with the new BS6 emission norms. The BS6 Honda Dio features a sharper design, an LED headlight, and enhanced smart features like an ACG silent starter. The engine now produces 7.9bhp and 8.9Nm, slightly less than the old model. I think these updates make the Dio more appealing to young buyers while meeting stricter emission standards.

In 2017, Honda launched a revamped version of the Dio in India, complying with Bharat Standard – IV (BS-IV) emission regulations. This model featured a redesigned speedometer, an LED headlight, and improved fuel efficiency. The Dio Deluxe version also got a digital speedometer and power seats. I believe these changes significantly enhanced the scooters appeal and performance.

In 2012, Honda introduced the new Dio SCV110 at the Auto Expo in India. This model came with a new 110cc engine, also used in the Activa and Aviator, and a fresh new look. The scooter also boasted improved fuel efficiency and combined brakes. I think this update was a significant step in keeping the Dio competitive in the Indian market.

In 2001, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India launched the original Dio in India, marking the beginning of the scooters journey in the country. The initial model, SCV100, was equipped with a 102cc air-cooled, four-stroke engine and both electric and kick start options. I believe this launch set the stage for the Dios popularity in India.

The India Honda Dio (Old) price was Rs 55,777 before being discontinued in India. Available in three color options- Mat Sangria Red Metallic, Mat Axis Grey Metallic, and Dazzle Yellow Metallic.
