Hero Maestro Edge 110 VX Review

09 Jul, 2017 04:36 PM

Hero Motocorp, the India's own 2 wheeler manufacturer is ready for a separation with its Honda cousins, dividing the graph with its individually developed platforms for 2 wheelers in India. The recent entry to the list is the all new Hero Maestro Edge. The new scooter is full of excitement, changing the way Hero resides in everyone's mind.

Design & Style

Maestro Edge is a sudden upgrade to the age old Activa inspired design of the Hero scooters. The new scooter looks refreshed with its sharp body curves, especially on the side body of the scooter. The front gets the required black treatment, followed by the exclusive looking Black alloy wheels of the Maestro Edge. It gets some added style to the rear view mirrors and gets a totally new exhaust design, representing a race bike design on a commuter level scooter. The rear end is excellently designed as the LED taillights are perfect attention grabbers for the Maestro Edge. Overall, Hero has done a great job on its new comer.

Engine & Gearbox

Maestro Edge gets a newly developed 110.9cc, single cylinder engine from Hero. The new engine produces 8.31 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 8.3 NM @ 6,500 rpm. The gearbox stays automatic; making the newly developed Maestro Edge weigh around 109 kg (LX) & 110 kg (VX). The performance of this engine would be soon tested, revealing the actual comparative values for the Maestro Edge.

Brakes & Suspension

The scooter comes with 130 mm of drum brakes for both the wheels. The integrated braking system on the Maestro Edge makes it safe by applying both the brakes by pressing a single brake lever. The front suspension is telescopic forks whereas the rear is a single hydraulic shock absorber. The front wheel measures 12 inch whereas the rear gets a 10 inch wheel.

Comfort & Safety

The newcomer gets a longer 1261 mm of wheelbase, making it more spacious under the seat as well as above the seat. The ground clearance of 155 mm makes it better than its competitors and saves the under-body from many unwanted damages. The scooter gets a mobile charging option for keeping the phone ready for emergency times. The first in class feature of under-seat luggage lamp makes the scooter a useful part of daily life. Maestro Edge comes with a next generation immobilizer for safety while you are away from your ride. The service reminder inside its instrument console makes it more convenient than ever.

Variants & Shades

Hero offers the Maestro Edge in 2 variants namely LX and VX. The VX gets more option and comes out to be its top trim with advantage of mobile charging, under seat lamp and rear luggage hook. The shades on the newcomer are Pearl Silver White, Panther Black, Shooting Night Star, Candy Blazing Red, Techno Blue, Matt Vernier Grey and Matte Blue.

Ex-showroom Price

Hero has offered the new Maestro Edge at a competitive price tag of INR 49,500 for the LX variant whereas the higher VX variant costs INR 50,700. Hero has finally grown above the Honda in terms of designing a perfect scooter.
