Harley-Davidson Roadster Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Harley Davidson is very well known for updating its products according to the need of time. This time, they brought a great mash-up of modern technology with the the retro inspired styling from their existing HD Forty Eight and named it as Roadster XL1200CX. The motorcycle carries a few extra bits from the company's signature styling and focus mainly on the performance aspect of a Harley Davidson.
Design & Style
The new Roadster XL1200CX comes with the same under body as the Forty Eight while most of the visual parts have also been kept the same as the other one. It uses the iconic fuel tank design painted in single color for a pure finish while the exhausts are painted in chrome with black panels on both of them. The fenders on the bike have been cut short for a KHR model inspired look on the Roadster. The bike has missed all of the non required parts for a better performance figure out of all in its class. The motorcycle uses a differently placed handlebar while the padded seat provides a more upmarket look to the motorcycle.
Instrument Console
The neat and clean, single pod instrument console on the XL1200CX matches the best to the profile of the motorcycle. The tachometer stays analogue whereas The semi circular area below the same serves as a digital speedometer with a odometer below it. The warning lights like neutral and others are placed in a stripe near the instrument pod. The chrome line around the pod makes it look more rich and attractive than the others.
Dimensions & Weight
The Roadster is 2185 mm in length, 841 mm in width and 1082 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 1505 mm while the ground clearance comes out to be 150 mm. It weighs 259 kg with all the fluids while the fuel tank stays 12.5 liters. It comes with a certified mileage of 20.40 kmpl.
Engine & Gearbox
The engine powering the XL1200CX is a 1202 cc, V-twin motor with 96 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The engine is air cooled and comes with two valves per cylinder. It uses a electronic sequential port fuel injection for its fuel system. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and uses a belt driven system instead of chain driven in traditional bikes.
Braking & Suspension
The motorcycle comes with dual floating, 300 mm disc brakes at the front while the rear is a single disc measuring 260 mm. ABS has been given as an option on the new Roadster XL1200CX. The front suspension has been changed from the traditional telescopic forks on other bikes to a new 43 mm USD forks with 115 mm of wheel travel. The rear uses twin gas charged shocks with 81 mm of travel. The bike rides on 120/70-19 and 150/70-18 Dunlop Harley Davidson series tyres.
Shades & Variants
The motorcycle is available in Velocity Red Sunglo, Bullet Silver, Black Denim and Vivid Black shade while the only difference in its two variants is the use of ABS on the higher one.
Price
The Harley Davidson Roadster XL1200CX is priced at $11,199 in the US and is now available in India for INR 9.85 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

User Reviews for Harley-Davidson Sportster
Iron 883 MY 2020
Just bought my 2020 Iron 883 and was delivered at home last 11 January 2021. It looks beautiful, the torque can be feel at lower rpm, for city driving is okay, in highway lacking with 6th gear, good ground clearance, fuel tank is good but not bad for my daily rides.
Best Features: Good ground clearance, Fuel tank is okay for daily ride
Pros: Its a beauty in black denim, nimble in highway
Cons: The seat is unconfortable after long rides. The gear indicator only shows when the clutch is release, its hard to find the neutral position, no 6th gear.
Harley-Davidson Roadster Discussion
Bought a new Harley Roadster in March 2017..clocked about 800kms now..have to say it's a fantastic piece of machine..Yes Air cooled means it will get Hot in standing traffic..Great acceleration, Excellent braking on this model, better suspensions compared to other sportsters, giving me a decent mileage 22kmpl (mostly highway rides though)
Yeah, air cooled :/ Bet this "roadster" will be a hoot to drive on our congested roads.
