Indian is an American brand of motorcycles which was founded late back in 1901. Its headquarters are located in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. The company has launched the upgraded version of the motorcycle 'Scout' in the international market. It is in speculation that it will be available in India by early 2015. Design and Style
The original stylish DNA of the Indian Scout is evident in this new model. The styling and engineering of motorcycle are integrated in a refined, no-frills style. The design line that leads the eye length of the Scout creates an impression of being in motion at all the times. The lightweight chassis of motorcycle enhances the easy manoeuvrability on roads for the most rewarding riding. The single, modern, leather wrapped seat and black headlight with chrome accents reminds you the original Indian Scout. Other highlights include classic rigid triangle, stylish fenders and windshield. The Indian Scout Badging on the fuel tank makes it an eye catcher.
Dimensions and Fuel Tank Capacity
The motorcycle comes with a length of 2311 mm, width of 880 mm and a height of 1207 mm as its dimensions along with a kerb weight of 253 Kg. The motorcycle features a retro style fuel tank with a 12.49-litres capacity which gives you a wide range.
Engine and Gearbox
The Indian Scout is powered by a 1130cc, liquid-cooled, two cylinder, 8-valve, V-twin engine which is tuned to offer a maximum power of 100 bhp at 8100 rpm and a maximum torque of 97.7 Nm made at 5900 rpm. The engine is mated to a six speed transmission and a wet multi-plate clutch system. It uses the closed loop fuel injection system.
Brakes and Suspension
It has a very capable suspension system with high-quality telescopic fork at its front and dual shocks at its back. The motorcycle comes fitted with 298 mm single disc, 2-piston caliper at its front while the 298 mm single disc with 1-piston caliper brakes are placed at its back which confirms you a safe ride with complete control on this bike.
Ride and Handling
Its superb suspension, extremely wide rear tyre and an extended wheelbase of 1562 mm gives you a very stable and pleasing ride. The tyres hold the road firmly and even on highway also, it is very stable and its good suspension keeps you grounded at high speeds. It can digest any pothole and can easily cross any obstruction with a ground clearance of 135 mm.
