BMW is working on a new air-cooled GS model, which is expected to be more off-road capable than the Urban G/S. This new bike will likely use the R 12 nineT platform and feature a 21-inch front wheel, similar to the HP2 Enduro. It will have a simpler design with less emphasis on advanced technology, potentially making it more affordable. I believe this could be a great move for BMW, catering to those who prefer a more traditional off-road experience.

The new BMW R 12 platform has been expanded to include a cruiser model, alongside the R 12 nineT. The R 12 cruiser uses the same 1,170 cc air- and oil-cooled boxer engine but is down-tuned to 95 hp at 6,500 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The bike features a new tubular steel main frame, alloy wheels, and twin radially-mounted four-piston brake calipers. I think BMWs attempt to enter the cruiser market with this model is intriguing, but it remains to be seen how it will be received.

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new 2024 BMW R 1300 GS, featuring a completely new boxer engine with 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 110 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. This engine is the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever produced in series. The bike also boasts a new frame design, improved suspension, and a weight reduction of 26 lbs. compared to the previous model. I think this significant upgrade will make the R 1300 GS a top contender in the adventure bike segment.

BMW Motorrad introduced the ConnectedRide concept, which explores autonomous riding technology for motorcycles. While this is more of a future concept, it shows BMWs commitment to innovation and safety. I think this technology has the potential to revolutionize motorcycle safety, but its still in its early stages.

BMWs R 1250 GS and GS Adventure models were updated in 2018 with a new 1,254 cc twin-cylinder engine producing 134 bhp. This update marked a significant increase in power and performance for the GS series. I believe this update helped maintain the GSs position as a leader in the adventure bike segment.

BMW Motorrad is reportedly working on updating the R 1200 RT with a re-tuned engine and slight cosmetic tweaks. The new engine is expected to have more power and displacement, though exact details are not yet available. This update could make the R 1200 RT more competitive in the touring segment. I believe these updates will be crucial in keeping the R 1200 RT relevant in the market.

There have been speculations about BMW introducing variable valve timing for the R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure models. This technology could enhance the performance and efficiency of the boxer-twin engine. While not confirmed, it would be a significant improvement if implemented. I think this would be a great step forward in engine technology for BMW.

BMW is considering a new design for the R 1200 GS with potential updates including a larger, more powerful engine. This could involve changes to the engines valve technology to improve performance and efficiency. While these are just speculations, they indicate BMWs ongoing efforts to enhance their flagship models. I think any significant updates would be well-received by enthusiasts.

The BMW R1200GS Adventure was compared against competitors like the Ducati Multistrada Enduro and the Triumph Tiger Explorer XC. The R1200GS Adventure stood out for its robust engine and off-road capabilities. I believe the R1200GS Adventure remains a strong choice for serious adventure riders.
