BMW R1200 Range Launched in India Starting @ INR 14.90 lakh

BMW Motorrad recently launched the twin cylinder R1200 series of motorcycles in India, starting from a price tag of INR 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The series goes up to INR 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The starting model is the most basic roadster R1200R, carrying powerful 1170 cc engine that is good for 125 PS at 7750 rpm and 125 Nm at 6500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed 200+ kmph. It weighs 231 kg and rivals Ducati Monster 1200 in India.

BMW R1200 GS is a tourer version based on the same frame as R1200R, producing the same output while weighing more at 244 kg. It uses thinner tyres and smaller brakes when compared to the roadster version. It comes in three variants namely Standard (INR 15.90 lakh), Dynamic Plus (INR 19 lakh) and Pro (INR 19.50 lakh). BMW even gets a off-road friendly version named R1200 GSA that weighs 263 kg and carries 30 liters of fuel tank. It comes with spoke wheels and body protectors. BMW R1200 RS is a semi faired version based on the roadster variant, making it good for 236 kg of wet weight and exactly the same components as R1200 R. It comes in Standard (INR 15.90 lakh) and Dynamic Plus (INR 16.90 lakh) variant. The flagship R1200 RT weighs 274 kg as it has been covered in a tourer's body and comes with 25 liter fuel tank.
