Bajaj Discover 150F
Bajaj Variant
General information and overview
The Bajaj Discover 150F is a 150cc motorcycle that stands out with its half-fairing design, giving it a distinctive appearance on the road. It uses the same platform as other Discover models but features several upgrades, including smart instrumentation with digital and analog displays, showing trip meters, fuel gauge, and service due indicators. The engine is a highlight, with a 4-valve head and twin spark plugs, producing 14.5 PS of power and 12.7 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike also boasts alloy wheels, a 240mm disc brake, and LED tail lamps. The seating ergonomics are comfortable, although some users find it a bit cramped compared to larger 150cc bikes. The ride and handling are well-judged, making it suitable for both city and highway riding. Overall, the Discover 150F offers a strong performance, good handling, and excellent value for money.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Bajaj Discover 150F is a well-rounded motorcycle that offers a compelling package for both commuters and enthusiasts. Its engine, equipped with a 4-valve head and twin spark plugs, delivers impressive performance with 14.5 PS of max power and 12.7 Nm of peak torque, making it pleasantly tractable in both city and highway conditions. The handling is agile, thanks to its refined semi double-cradle frame and stiff suspension, although it may not be the sharpest in traffic or the most planted around bends. The ride quality is good, and the bike is stable at high speeds. However, the lack of a tachometer is a notable omission. Overall, the Discover 150F is a great value-for-money option, especially considering its pricing, which is closer to 125cc motorcycles than other 150cc bikes in the market.
Recent news and announcements
Bajaj has reportedly discontinued the Discover 150F in India due to poor sales. The bike, which was once a popular choice in the commuter segment, saw declining demand over the past few years. I think this move might be a strategic decision to focus on other successful models.
Bajaj Discover 150F is available in several color options, including Dark Blue, Wine Red, Ebony Black, and Dark Bottle Green. The bikes design includes a signature sinewy tank and modern stepped LED tail lights, giving it a sleek appearance. I think the color options and design elements make it visually appealing.
The Bajaj Discover 150F was launched in India with a price starting at Rs. 58,200 for the base model. The bike features a 144.8cc engine, producing 14.3 BHP and 12.75 Nm of torque, and comes with a semi-fairing design. I believe the semi-fairing adds a sporty touch to this commuter bike.
The Bajaj Discover 150F has a kerb weight of 132 kg and a seat height of 795 mm, making it accessible to a wide range of riders. The bike also features a 130mm telescopic fork at the front and 110mm mono shock nitrox with gas-filled shock absorbers at the rear. I believe this suspension setup provides a smooth ride.
Bajaj Auto has been working on enhancing the Discover series, and the 150F model is a result of this effort. The bike is built on a new generation platform and features a comfortable long seat and alloy wheels. I think these updates make it more appealing to commuters looking for both comfort and style.
Pricing details and changes
When the Bajaj Discover 150F was launched, it was priced very competitively. The ex-showroom price in India was around Rs 59,000 in Pune, which is remarkably close to the pricing of 125cc motorcycles. On-road prices would vary depending on the state and local taxes, but generally, it would be around Rs 65,000 to Rs 70,000. This pricing strategy makes the Discover 150F an attractive option for those looking to upgrade from a 125cc bike without a significant increase in cost. The value-for-money aspect is further enhanced by features like alloy wheels, a 240mm disc brake, tubeless tires, and LED tail lamps, all of which are included in the fully specced trim.
Fuel efficiency information
The mileage of the Bajaj Discover 150F can be a bit of a mixed bag. While Bajaj claims a fuel economy of around 55 kmpl in real-world riding, user reviews suggest varying results. Some users report mileage as low as 40-43 kmpl, which is significantly lower than the claimed figure. However, others have reported better mileage, around 65 kmpl, under optimal conditions. If you are concerned about mileage and running costs, its important to consider these variations and perhaps test the bike under your typical riding conditions to get a more accurate estimate.
