Our take on this /// Verdict
The Kawasaki Z1000 is a powerful and visually striking naked sportbike that offers thrilling performance and aggressive styling. Its 1043cc inline-four engine delivers impressive power, making it suitable for experienced riders who prioritize raw performance over cutting-edge electronics. The upright riding position provides decent comfort for short to medium rides, but the bike's weight and heat output can be challenging in urban environments. While discontinued, the Z1000 remains an attractive option for enthusiasts seeking a second-hand performance bike. Its lack of modern electronics like traction control may appeal to purists who prefer a more direct riding experience. However, potential buyers should consider the higher maintenance costs and fuel consumption associated with such a high-performance machine. The Z1000 is best suited for experienced riders w

Kawasaki Z1000 Review
Overview
Kawasaki Z1000: A Legend Remembered
The Kawasaki Z1000 wasn’t a motorcycle — it was raw feeling on two wheels. The first time I heard one, I knew without hearing the engine. That menacing, sharp look along with their intimidating stance was enough to make anyone impressed. And even though they ceased production of the Z1000, the Z1000 hasn’t lost any of its charm or the respect it earned from me because I road it. Above all, let’s have a look at what made this beast so iconic and still unforgettable.
Which Made the Kawasaki Z1000 Special?
The Z1000 was an attituder. Kawasaki’s “Sugomi” design philosophy put it ahead, and frankly, it made quite the impression on me. The predator in the prowl was the sculpted tank, the twin pod headlights and the angular lines, which gave it a look. Although the Z1000 stood still, it looked like it was about to go at lightning speed.
What stood out for me with this bike was that it was so unapologetically bold. It wasn’t trying to appeal to everyone, and I actually liked that. It wasn’t a practical bike you bought; it was a proclamation.
Engine and Performance
A big part of the Z1000 was a 1,043cc liquid-cooled inline four engine, but power isn’t all that good—experience is all that you can get with it. The Z1000 wasn’t just fast, it was thrilling; with about 142 PS of power and 111 Nm of torque.
I can remember twisting the throttle, this was like waking a sleeping giant. Instant and smooth surge of power, a linear delivery with you feeling like you're in complete control even as the bike came alive. It always felt responsive, eager, relentlessly so regardless of whether I was cruising at a relaxed pace or at it's limits.
The compliment to the engine was the six speed gearbox. Rides were crisp and satisfying, good shifts helping make every ride like a dance between man and machine. And the sound? My ears were proud of that growl from the exhaust.
Handling and Ride Quality
The Z1000 wasn’t only about straight line speed, it was a pure corner carver. The bike’s aluminum twin tube frame offered a remarkable amount of rigidity and helped the bike feel nimble for its size. It's something I've taken through tight city streets, and I've taken them through sweeping mountain curves in both instances and the Z1000 felt like it was designed for the gig.
On that stretch of winding roads an unforgettable ride on the Z1000 is all it took to fall in love riding all over again. With the wide handlebars I knew exactly where I was going, and the bike felt planted, in fact even when I leaned into sharp corners.
The perfect suspension setup—front running pair of 41mm USD forks and a horizontal back link rear suspension. It even devoured bumps in rough patches while not getting in the way of the kind of feedback that’s essential when riding spiritedly.
Braking and Safety
The Z1000 stopped great power well too. The phenomenal braking performance came from a pair of 310mm petal disc brakes up front and a 250mm disc rear assisted by ABS.
Once I had to brake hard because a car abruptly went into my lane in front of me. The Z1000 stopped, on its own, so smoothly and confidently, it was like the bike said (I’d seen it do this many times before) 'Don’t worry, I’ve got this.’
Features and Practicality
It wasn’t running at the bleeding edge of tech, but it had everything a person would need. The digital anodual instrument cluster was a simple 4 bit modual, speed, RPM, fule level, and trip meters. It wasn’t glitzy, but it did the trick.
LED headlights and taillights enhanced night rides while keeping things up to date visually. Those headlights made the bike look even more menacing, and let’s not forget those headlights.
However, it wasn’t its strong suit in practicality. With storage space at a premium, and an aggressive riding position, it was obvious this bike wasn’t built for commuting or touring. It was just for the thrill of the ride.
Why Z1000 Was Discontinued?
The Z1000 was discontinued by Kawasaki as a result of market changing trends and stricter emissions norms. While it’s always bittersweet when an icon like this leaves the stage, I think the Z1000 left in style. Rather than letting the spotlight fade you away into mediocrity it’s better to walk away as a legend than to stay long enough to become just another athlete.
Value (When It Was Available) and Price
When this was still available, the Z1000 was priced at Rs.15.10 lakh (ex-showroom). But for the money the dealer wanted, it more than paid off—the engine was powerful, the handling impeccable and the design striking.
Kawasaki Z1000 My Take
I loved the Z1000 more than it loved me, it was more than just a motorcycle, it was an experience. It wouldn’t be perfect and didn’t want to be. It was character, the STUFF that stays with you when you’ve moved on to the next car. Riding the Z1000 was like riding lightning, it was fun, exciting and you didn’t forget it.
If this still available, would I recommend it? Absolutely, if only you’re one of those who ride out of pure love of it. This wasn’t a bike about practicality or convenience, this was about passion.
Have you got a story about the Z1000 or rock up to a bike that felt the same way to you? I’d love to hear some two wheeled tales about yourself, let’s share!

User Reviews for Kawasaki Z
An impressive machine and a great choice for those looking for a fun
The Z125 Pro is an incredibly fun bike to ride around town. The engine delivers a smooth and predictable power, allowing you to easily zip in and out of traffic and up the steepest grades of San Francisco. The four-speed gearbox helps with throttle control and provides a safe and comfortable ride for newer riders.
The brakes, while modest, are more than adequate for controlling this machine. The 200mm petal-style disc up front with the Nissan two-piston caliper, and the 184mm petal-style disc in the rear, provide adequate stopping power.
However, the Z125 Pro may not be the best option for taller riders. With a seat height of just 30.3 inches, a rider pushing into the 6’ range may find that their knees meet the bars easily. Taller bars and adjustable rear sets may be necessary to make this bike more comfortable for taller riders.
Overall, the Kawasaki Z125 Pro is an impressive machine and a great choice for those looking for a fun and reliable urban commuter. It's small size, smooth power delivery, and adequate braking system make it a great choice for new and experienced riders alike.
Great choice for those looking for power and performance.
This bike is a great choice for those looking for power and performance. It has a powerful 900cc inline 4 cylinder engine that gives out a lot of torque and power. The bike has an impressive mileage of 20kmpl on long rides and 18kmpl in traffic, making it one of the most efficient bikes in its price range. The bike is also suitable for riders of heights between 5.5 and 6 feet, thanks to its long and narrow design. The only downside is that the bike is quite expensive, but if you are looking for a great superbike experience under 10 lacs, the Kawasaki Z900 is the perfect option. Be sure to drive safely and enjoy the ride!
Great power delivery
The overall look of the bike is good and it has a great power delivery. It also has a comfortable sitting position which makes it suitable for long rides. With its lower seating posture, it gives a sporty feel. However, it may not be suitable for touring due to its almost upright seating which can be quite heavy compared to other bikes.
The ergonomics of the Kawasaki Z900 are great and make for a comfortable ride. The performance of the bike is outstanding with a strong throttle response and the quick shifter is a great addition to the experience. The inline 4 sound is an amazing attraction and the pickup is incredibly fast. The overall look of the bike is beautiful and the exhaust note is smooth and sharp. This bike is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a powerful and reliable superbike.
Lightweight Machine for Bike Lovers
Kawasaki Z250 is a comfortable motorcycle with perfect quality and good top-end grunt. It has an aggressive front and looks like a big motorcycle. The brakes are strong and friendly if you need them but ABS is omitted from the bike for India. The 6-speed gearbox gives smooth shifts and the clutch is well weighed with the lever providing amazing feel. It does excel when it comes to mileage and returns more than 30 km/l, resulting in a 500 km plus range on a single tank. The ride quality is good and easily absorb bumps on road. Plastic quality is average and rear view mirrors give decent viewing angle. It shares the same instrument cluster used by Ninja 300, but has a couple of changes to it. The seats are on the harder side but still offer a lot of comfort. In comparison to rider seat, pillion seat is quite inappropriate. I rode with two different passengers and they commented that the seat was too uncomfortable and stiff for a long riding. It has impressive handling and corners with good precision.
Best Features: Easy handling
Pros: Lightweight, easy handling, attractive looks, smooth gearing, huge tank capacity
Cons: Uncomfortable for long rides, expensive, No ABS
