Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Review

09 Nov, 2023 10:50 AM

Overview

Overview

The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 was launched in India back in April 2020. Currently, the 160cc motorcycle is available with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1,48,813. Apart from the addition of an updated engine, the BS6 model of the Pulsar NS160 remains similar to its BS4 counterpart in terms of design and graphics. The suspension duties, braking power, as well as the single-channel ABS unit, also remain the same for the updated motorcycle variant.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Design & Style

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 stays true to its name ‘Naked Sport’, it is the most aggressive and muscular looking bike in its segment. The 160cc motorcycle is lightweight and it is fun to ride. It has LED headlamps and tail light. It shares its design traits with its elder sibling, the Pulsar NS200. The red coloured paint scheme on the bike looks beautiful while the grips of the bike are made up of premium quality. The updated model of the Pulsar NS160 has backlit switches which are sort of a trademark of the Pulsar motorcycles.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Engine & Gearbox

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is powered by a BS6-compliant 160.3cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that is now capable of offering maximum power of 17.2HP @ 9,000 rpm which is 2HP higher than the 15.2HP @ 8,500 rpm offered by its BS4 version. The torque offered by the BS6-compliant model remains the same at 14.6Nm @ 7,250 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This BS6 variant of the motorcycle now comes equipped with a fuel-injected engine that replaces the carbureted engine available on the BS4 model of the motorcycle. It also gets an additional catalytic converter along with some other features to comply with the BS6 emission norms which came into effect from April 1, 2020.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Instrument Console

The New Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is equipped with a digital-analog instrument cluster. It gets an RPM metre with an RPM limit indicator. It has a tachometer, speedometer, odometer, trip metre, and a fuel-indicator. It has an engine kill switch button and a battery indicator. The instrument cluster on the bike is quite decent and it displays all the relevant information that a rider needs while driving.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Dimensions, Mileage & Top Speed

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 measures 2017mm in length, 804mm in width, and 1060mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 177mm. The motorcycle has a wheelbase of 1372mm with a seat height of 805mm. Coming to the mileage of the motorcycle it stands at around 40-45 kmpl. The top speed of the bike is approximately 120 kmph. It is a city sports commuter motorcycle but it can perform well on the weekend rides as well. It has a kerb/wet weight of 152kgs, which makes it one of the most heavy motorcycles in the 160cc segment.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Brakes & Suspension

The New Bajaj Pulsar NS160 rides on a perimeter frame that provides the bike with superb rigidity and balance. The high stiffness and low flex of the frame provide the sharpest handling experience. The suspension duties of the bike are handled by telescopic forks with anti-friction bush at its front while a Nitrox mono shock absorber with canister at its rear. Its modern high-performance monoshock suspension provides the rider with superior comfort. The braking performance of the bike is taken care of by disc brakes at either end. It is paired with single-channel ABS while the new model of Pulsar NS160 can go from 0-100kmph in just 14.5 seconds.

Bajaj Pulsar NS160 Colours & Graphics

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is available in four colour options: Metallic Pearl White, Cocktail Wine Red, Ebony Black and Pewter Grey. The bike shares its styling cues with its elder sibling, the Pulsar NS200. Somehow, we don’t like the white-coloured alloy wheels and the trellis frame. The earlier BS4 model colour-schemes were way better in terms of looks and style.

Verdict & Competitors of Bajaj Pulsar NS160

The 2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is a fun-to-ride motorcycle. The clutch feel of the motorcycle is nice and light. The handlebar of the motorcycle is angled in such a way that it is comfortable to flick in the desired direction. The engine of the bike is now more refined with fewer fuel emissions. There are no vibrations felt on the motorcycle when it hits the speed in three digits. The motorcycle’s perfectly sorted-out centre of gravity gives another reason to own this bike. Bajaj Pulsar NS160 competes in the market with the likes of Honda XBlade 160, Suzuki Gixxer 150, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Yamaha FZS V3, and the Hero Xtreme 160R.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat Drum

Honestly, the Pulsar 125 Split Seat feels like a younger sibling of the classic Pulsar. The styling is sharp, and it’s comfortable for both rider and pillion. But I wish it had a bit more torque for quicker overtakes. For daily use, though the mileage and build make it a great pick.

The Bajaj Pulsar N150 strikes a balance between performance and practicality. Its 149.68cc engine delivers adequate power for urban commutes. The lightweight chassis enhances maneuverability, while the semi-digital console adds a modern touch. However, the lack of a rear disc brake is noticeable during hard braking.

Reasonable bike with easy commuting

TVS XL 100 is a per bike for those who have tight budget. It come under 50k price and best suitable for daily commute. I bought this bike for my gardener who’s living with us for more than 20 years. He is really happy for this gift, now he can use this for his part time. The mileage is very sufficient of 50kmpl. The built up quality is strong and durable. However the pick up is the biggest drawback for TVS XL 100. I must say, apart from pick up everything is good to go. It has very low maintenance as well.

it delivers excellent mileage up to 60–70 km, and the starting price is Rs. 31,079. The metal body of the scooter ensures its durability and stability, it is best for daily rides as it is affordable for poor people as well. It can carry huge loads since it has the energy efficiency and a sturdy load carrier. Its spare parts and other equipment have low prices which makes it more affordable and easy to maintain.

Bike is not good. I bought this bike around one month ago. Self Start is not working just 2-3 days after i bought the bike. Also, there's a problem with kick start, u have to kick multiple times to start the bike. I went to service center and told them the problem, they said that it's engine is like that, we can't do anything.
It happens that u r in the middle of the road and the bike start is not working. It feels so embarrassing guys. I'm thinking why the hell i bought this bike.
