So how do you compare the brand trust and reliability of other brand like, the Toyota Innova with the BYD eMAX 7?
02 January 2025 06:29
Let’s be real, most people who are buying a Rs 30 lakh+ MPV don’t care about reliability too much. The eMAX 7 delivers all the latest tech and features, which is what they want. It's not the same market as the Innova buyer.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 worth the price tag considering its features, and the electric powertrain?
02 January 2025 06:29
At that price it's a tough sell. And they are asking people to pay a premium for an unproven brand in India irrespective of their global reputation. However, they should have come in with more aggressive pricing strategy to get market share.
Is the BYD eMAX 7 a game changer for the Indian MPV market?
02 January 2025 06:29
Game-changer? More like a niche player. Yes, it’s got some fancy tech, but at that price point, it’s not going to unseat the Innova anytime soon. While rotating touchscreens may be the latest thing on the market, most MPV buyers are in the market for reliability and low running costs.
Will the BYD eMAX 7's battery warranty fend off range anxiety for potential buyers?
02 January 2025 06:29
That’s a step in the right direction, but what I’m really curious about is how the battery will fare after a few years. If it is used 3-4 years, will it still come close to the advertised range? That's the real test.
Does the BYD Dolphin have the performance to excite enthusiastic drivers?
02 January 2025 06:25
Having been a petrolhead myself, I was skeptical, but the Dolphin changed my mind. Instant, silent acceleration is a satisfying thing.
Is the BYD Dolphin's wind noise at high speeds a no-go?
02 January 2025 06:25
I do a lot of highway driving, and it would bother me. I've heard that some weather stripping and door seals will fix it. If you like everything else about the car it might be worth the DIY effort.
Is the BYD Dolphin’s slower DC charging speed impractical for road trips?
02 January 2025 06:25
For the price point, something had to give, and it's definitely a compromise. I’m willing to pay a bit more for a slower charging car I don’t use much, rather than a cheaper car with faster charging I rarely use.
Is the interior of BYD Dolphin on par with its competitors?
02 January 2025 06:25
I couldn't guess how old my new Dolphin's interior was, but compared to my Corolla it felt futuristic and premium. People are judging it in relation to much more expensive cars, I think.
Does the BYD Dolphin's styling help or hurt its appeal?
02 January 2025 06:25
The Dolphin's quirky look is one that I love. It’s different from all the boring, samey cars in the sea. It’s also a great conversation starter!
Does the often zany interior design of the BYD Atto 3 help or hinder the user experience?
02 January 2025 06:16
As a designer, I love that BYD is willing to take risks with the Atto 3’s interior. It’s not perfect, by any means, but it has personality and separates the car from a sea of boring, cookie cutter SUVs. I hope they improve this approach instead of throwing it out the door in future models.
How does the BYD Atto 3’s official range stack up to its real-world range?
02 January 2025 06:16
The Atto 3’s range is all over the map depending on conditions, I’ve discovered. In summer, I can easily exceed the official range, and sometimes match it. However, in winter with the heater on I am getting about 20-25% less. Something to be aware of, but it’s still enough for my needs.
Is the rotating infotainment screen on the BYD Atto 3 a game changer or a gimmick?
02 January 2025 06:16
I’m warming to the rotating screen. I first assumed it was just for show, but I've used it for various other situations. Now, while I am definitely glad that they made the rotation feature, I kind of wish that they had put more effort into making the UI and responsiveness of the system better.
How is the BYD Atto 3 built compared to other established brands?
02 January 2025 06:16
Seriously, the Atto 3’s build quality is decent enough, but not great. There are a few minor issues I’ve noticed like incomplete panel gaps and some cheap feeling plastics lower down in the interior. For the price it’s good, but don’t expect luxury car levels of fit and finish.
Is the Blade Battery technology in the BYD Atto 3 really revolutionary?
02 January 2025 06:16
Because I'm an electrical engineer, I'm very interested in the Blade Battery design. It’s clever, not revolutionary. It's really an evolution of existing lithium iron phosphate technology. However, BYD's implementation looks good, and could spur other manufacturers to get creative.
Is long term battery degradation going to be a concern with the XUV400's battery?
02 January 2025 05:54
I don't think it will be a big deal. Mahindra's done their homework, and while the thermal management system looks solid, it will be interesting to see how the whole car holds up. On top of that, NMC batteries have already been successfully used in other markets.
Does the XUV400’s single speed transmission limit highway driving?
02 January 2025 05:54
People overthink this. On the highway, the XUV400 has more than enough power. The single speed transmission not only keeps things simple and reliable, but crucial for a mass market EV.
Is the XUV400’s interior good enough to be a deal breaker?
02 January 2025 05:54
It depends on your priorities, I think. Yeah, if you're coming from a premium car you will definitely notice the difference. If you care more about EV experience and performance, then go for it. Plus, it's easier to clean!
Does the extra price of the XUV400 over the Tata Nexon EV justify its performance?
02 January 2025 05:54
It is great performance but I'm not sure it's worth the price difference. Tata has a little more experience in the EV game and Mahindra is still new. The Nexon would make me feel safer.
Is the lack of a sunroof on the XUV400 a big miss?
02 January 2025 05:54
In fact, I actually prefer not having a sunroof. It’s a weight saver, which is critical to an EV’s efficiency. Plus, it means I don’t have to be stooped over like I do in my Civic.
With AC blasting, how will the Electric XUV300's range hold up in real world Indian conditions?
02 January 2025 05:48
It will depend a lot on the driving style. If you are gentle on the throttle and use good regenerative braking, you could probably get within proximity of the advertised range even with AC.
